Does anyone have an Aristocraft Trolley Bus on their layout? Just wondering how well they work and if they need any special requirements.

I have one of the old Eheim trolley bus sets (from what I know they're just an earlier version of the Brawa and Aristocraft sets). They're actually really neat and work pretty well from what I've seen. The only "special requirements" you need are slightly wider turns on your roads and a solid base to attach the poles to.
Hope that helps :)

Hey, DaCheez, know any sources for the overhead trolley lines? I have an Eheim Bus I got up in Acme, PA this past summer, $20 for it and an "almost" circle of overhead wire. I forget the name, but I think it's called flat wire. I've researched some, and found some places that sell it in bulk, but don't think I need 1,000 feet of it. And of course finding bases is another issue. There was an entire modular layout of the trolley buses at Timonium, MD show last month, I got some video and pictures of it. They used real wire, though, not the flat wire that Eheim used. Would love to get mine running and set up on a 2x4 module at a club train show sometime.

My bus is one of the earlier ones that uses round wire. For that I've just gone to the LHS and picked up some of the steel wire they sell in different thicknesses. If you were looking to scratchbuild the whole pole and wire system you could easily use the brass/steel wire and tubes some hobby shops sell. The only issue with your bus is I'm not sure how the flatwire trolley pole would track on round wire . As for a direct replacement for the flatwire, I'm afraid the only suggestion I have would be eBay.
