I found these two cars at a recent show, and can't seem to find any reference to them anywhere on Tyco-related sites. Both have Tyco id on the bottom frames. Might these have been a limited promotional set? Tony Cook's site didnt' show these. They look mint and unused.

They came out in the late 70's and were packaged in the orange Mantua boxes of that time period. They are promotional items and were not cataloged.

Notice the Mantua Metal Products number on the cars, MMP 716.

Thanks for that, Waw47! I figured it had to be promotional, but I've seen other promo cars listed on the Tyco sites. I should probably forward some better pics to Tony to use, eh?

Yep, Mantuas... I've got the tanker but not the hopper. What I find interesting is Mantua dusted off the original metal ladders for this run, instead of using the plastic ones as seen on Tycos for several years at this point. They did the same for the PPG tankers as well.

My guess is that the Sprague Energy cars were produced in Woodbury, not the Orient.
