I bought this expressly because I don't know what it is, and it's kind of wierd.

The body and frame are all metal and for some reason this car is about 48' scale feet long rather than the usual 40' length. It was made this way, it's not spliced or bashed. Of note, while the body is painted and lettered with decals, the number on the frame looks to be screened on. No id marks at all. Frame is stamped steel, does not look to have any cast parts. Trucks look like Cape Line replacements.

My guess is a Thomas Industries, but I haven't done any detective work on it.

I did just find someone painted a Silvine kit and used the same decals on it, so they may be irrelevant.

The Silvine is my car. I wish I could help but I can't. A reason it isn't A Thomas car is, all I have seen do not use corner frame steps of the type on this car. The frame looks wrong for Thomas. International built frames like that but they were always all brass. Just about everybody else has cast frames. The frame is made from alot of parts like a kit. labor intensive. I dont know !

Definitely not Thomas, they did not catalog a Victor Chemical Works tank car. My guess is Japanese, International or Tenshodo.

I'm not convinced the decals mean anything since Toptrain was able to use an identical set on another car (what brand were those?).

I'm not even sure there's a prototype for this, I've never heard of a tank car this length before.
