Well I finally got both of the TYCO animated cars with the brakeman on them. I have gotten 3 of the M-StL cars with no man, but I never had the TH&B one. Two questions, does anyone know how to get the gears off and how thread the rubber bands. Oh, and do they actually work? thanks... Phil

Neato! I didn't know Tyco had these! I thought they were by someone else. I'll have to keep an eye out for them in my area. Never seen one for sale at any rate. They are supposed to work when moving.

| I'll take a pic later on them, but if you take a staple gun staple, a ho figure that has some sort of platform (look at the foot on the brake man) and put it up into the flat piece it would work. you would have to bend, or hook the piece that hooks on the rubberband. Now that I have actually see how small this guy is, tomorrow I am going to try and find something like a hobo to ride on top of the cars.

| The one I fixed worked well, sometimes the top rubber band would work it's way up toward the top of the car. It's kind of cool watching the brakeman walk around the top of the car. The repair I did lasted a few months, the needed another set of bands.

where i went to school in Iowa the M & St l ran through the middle of the school campus separating women's dorms from men. They'd blow the whistle as they entered the campus day and night, ran so slow one could hop a ride into town. There were no R R signals at the side walks connecting the two campuses. Steam lines ran under the side walks and tracks in a tunnel that heated the buildings and walks More than one night visit to the girls side was made through the tunnels.
We took the Rock Island home to Chicago
It's all gone today
Amazing how model trains were animated years ago before electronics. I remember all my Lionel cars that did different tasks using vibrating coils and electro magnets. Crude but effective
