And it begins.... My car is one of my favorites, an ALL metal D&RG cattle car! Just cleaned up the sliding door braces and oiled them so the doors move smoothly. Only plastic parts are the wheels and trucks.

Gonna post some Tyco for this one, I haven't seen it before, a Stokely Van Camps ( beans? ) box car. Must be a rare one, I don't recall seeing it before at shows. Decent shape, picked up at show today for $3 in the bargain bin.

Nice one, AMC...reminds me of the postwar Lionel VanCamps bank car. I scored two of them for $20 a year or so ago.

My contribution this week is a beer car. As I've scaled back my collecting, I've been making barely any purchases. But my one weakness is beer cars. (and beer) This was my only purchase from last month's tiny Atchison KS train show:

It's interesting that I've noticed any rolling stock with alcohol or tobacco advertising commands a premium price compared to other things. I didn't pay much for this, I guess because it's not a currentlyrecognizable logo. In coming weeks, I'll show some of my other recent passions: unbuilt Athearn kits. I've started picking them up and putting them away for a "rainy day."

** You haven't mentioned who made it so I'll add that. That is a Trainminature car. My personal favorite in manufactures. They made cars with multiple colors. Each color silk screened separately in overlays. They, TM did great work with their decorating of the cars. They also did great work in making many different cars to put the screening on. They did not just make a wood reefer and a steel reefer. They made many variations of wood reefers. Excellent copies of the real cars as they were made through time with their improvements, changing to all steel and further along in time to early plug door refrigerator cars. So they made not one reefer but a series of at least 7. Few people notice it. They did the same with all their cars. All the art work like on the Hellmann's beer car are exact copies of what was on the real cars of their day.

My offering for the week is one I picked up yesterday at the flea market. I'm not quite sure who made this one, but I knew I had to have it.

This car is part of the original I began painting for my home towns historical society......I designed these cars in O scale for them, and they took my prototypes and had Weaver make them! NOW, atleast I got one car of them I designed!
