Here is my latest rework. She is an old late '40's Mantua brass caboose. She was in very sad shape when I got it at a show a few years ago. I started to paint it for Monon when I was modeling that railroad 2 years ago. Never made it past the paint and road number phase. I didnt feel like stripping it again as most NYC wood side cabooses were a light brown color. I prefer a red caboose anyways so rule #1 applies, its my railroad. The square holes in the body are for missing little square castings that were supposed to be marker lights. I plan to pick up either a set of brass castings and jewels or a pair of lighted Tomar markers to go on one end of the caboose. The only plastic on the thing is the window material I used. rest is either brass or diecast metal. Second pic is of my old Tenshodo SLSF (Frisco Lines) 2 bay coal hopper. Found this in a $2 box of freight cars, even has old Kaydee Andrews sprung trucks. I had to put Kaydees on it, but for a 2 spot I am not complaining one bit. Gotta watch those trays of cars. A light tap with your fingernail will tell the tail if its metal or brass. I just paid the gentleman and went on my way. Cheers Mike

Nope, that was before we had this digital cam. It was mostly brass with flaking red paint, both sides were caved in from something falling on it in the box of junk it was in. came from a collection that was for sale at a show I was at. She will get either brass markers with jewels or a set of lighted Tomar brand marker lights on the one end. Mike

I probably will do that, gonna have to use a AAA battery instead of the more normal AA that I use, the caboose has a diecast support that the trucks mount to, that holds the roof to the top of the body like a sandwich. Not enough room for a AA battery holder. Wish I could find a souce for latching reed switches so I could use my uncoupling tool to turn the lights on and off instead of having to drill a hole in the frame for a micro toggle switch. Mike
