my LOTW is my some what newly aquired MDC Roundhouse 1950s all metal 0-6-0 slopebaker that is undergoing a restoration in my shop! After some additional frame work and axle work it passed its' rolling test and I moved foward to install the side rods. It still passed its rolling test so I installed the right side main rod! The left side valve guides need more adjustments before the left side main rod can go on! The motor works as from a seperately applied power test but I need to work on the connections from motor to wheels. You can follow the restoration of this locomotive on here! It has its own topic under all the others mentioned, titled "Roundhouse 0-6-0 Restoration."
here's the left side. Only the side rod installed.
here's the newly installed main rod!
and here's what it looked like when it arrived!
I buy, repair, and collect http://scvr.weebly.com/ http://seyboldlocomotiveworks.weebly.com/ http://www.youtube.com/user/TheDeputation?feature=watch Hyde.

I'm jealous of the clear loco. I'd even be happy with a casting in clear. I'd love a GP-20 - I love that loco.

Ray, the tender on that is different! The top edges of the coal bunker are curved!!!! MOST ALL IHC, Model Power, and RSO had flat straight up and down tender sides......what gives?
That loco is a USRA design, just like all of the IHC, Model Power, and RSO's were....The tenders used by the USRA were flat sided, and had no curved top edges.....
Thats an INTERESTING tender, or did you re-work the tender?
Acquiring minds want to know! LOL

Imagine that tender if it were a little bit longer, with a Tyco Power Torque motor under it and the name Cattanooga on it. Yes, It was a Tyco Tender that I shortened and put a caboose frame under it to resemble a tender the NYC used.

Ray, Thats AWESOME! I was wondering what the H E double hockey sticks was going on.....you know, I got the means to do that, A BUNCH of times if need be!
NICE WORK! You had me fooled for awhile on it!
EDIT: Did you shorten it at the rear of the slope of the coal bunker, OR the lower section of the square "tank"? I ask as it kinda looks as if you cut the sides twice to get it that length!

I did cut 2 sections out of the shell. I cut a section out of the coal bunker (the pile of coal had to be reshaped also) and a section out of the water tank. Each section I removed was the width of the panel between the verticle rows of rivets.

Ray, I thought....It looked like it from the size of the tender. NOT that I could see the cut lines! Cause, I couldn't tell where you cut the shell at all!
NICE job! I'm impressed with that as tenders are normally the hardest ones to cut and chop without being noticeable!
Very well done!!! What did you use for the tender? a junk section from another tender? OR a complete rebuild area? and real type coal for the load in it?
You got my interest on that one it looks really good!

Just takes a little bit of memory from having see one in the past, a little work scouring some listings early in the morning before anyone stirs in the house and a lot of luck.
Otherwise they would have been going to someone else. I feel pretty lucky to be able to hold onto those little tid-bits of info and use them when the opportunity arises.

Sure is Nelson! I tell ya... its that little sickness we all have here, called: collectors jealousy!
I was in a shop that done alot of custom and repairs work and had seen those some years ago but never went one, (Not sure why) But the Lionel Western Maryland 3 truck Shay #6 was what I had my attention on, sadly I never did get it. $1,100 was a bit much, now, you can't touch the thing for that!

Got this for a song on eBay. Bachmann Specturm 4-4-0 Southern with tender, DCC and sound. Brand-new in the box!
The first DCC item to add to my new collection. Second steamer I've ever had - have never had a steamer running on my layout. Moving a lot of stuff to storage so I can get the becnhwork running on my layout, and then test track!!

Rus, love that 4-4-0. I'm interested in how much you paid, too.

My recent Ebay purchase. Two 0-6-0 steam engines. The shiny one is a Bachmann and the old, dusty one a Mantua. Including shipping I got them for less than $12.00. I couldn't resist buying the old, crusty Mantua.
Unspoken expectations are premeditated failures.
