As I just posted yesterdays LOTW, I got one today as well. It came through the doors to me in trade for a custom paint job I done for a long time customer of mine..... (I've painted EVERY single locomotive this customer owns!) BUT in lack of funds for the work he had me do. he offered me this:

As seen above, it will be getting "the works" offered by my shop, to add to my B&O collection as its a brass Akane model, B&O Q-4b, 2-8-2, thats for the most part, original! That will change as its really old and some of the details are very crude, and I have new brass parts to make it look even better, just as I did my B&O brass Akane, EM-1 #7600! So now the 7600 has a running mate or stable mate! and I must say, can't beat the price, either!

Wal-Mart guys..... Get the hair bands for the girls with pony tails, Nelson has a good name for them but they are Neoprene I do believe..... And will last practically for ever!
I had bought some from another store and they were useless, and didn't last for long....BUT, they were not the same thing that Nelson had mentioned!!!!

Yeap! How do you think I got the 50s Band-Drive Gp9! Every so often they get a big selection of used or consigned trains that I or RaySouthernPacific go through. I should've seen what e;se they had when I was there last time but last time I won the $50 raffle prize and I couldn't take my eye of them black widows I bought! I got the GP9 for $5! 2 Athearn Black widows, 1 powered, 1 dummy were $20 all together. I've bought all their used steam engines too Just waitin for the next batch

Here's a link to the assortment pack. I don't think they're neoprene... I think they're PVC or vinyl. They also make excellent traction tires.

The standard rubber bands don't just dry out, they also turn to goo, and the real fun begins when you have to scrape it off the shaft and axle. I wouldn't give a plug nickel for those Athearn bands.

Ain't that the truth.
I just noticed Sean's Cary Boxcab. You can see the melted rubber sticking to the axles. Sean, is the motor just loose? I see only one mount sticking through the chassis.
Love the Hudson, Ray.

NKP, It is lose. I have not yet tried to remove the cab to correct it. With shipping I think i paid under $15 for the engine so it was a steal by my book.
Yes, it has the band remnant scum attached to the wheel axles. I have a custom geared chassis I am contemplating putting under this shell.

I myself have someplace 2 Athearn Hustler frames with Ernst gearing in them....(I've been holding onto them) for the right ti me to find a Cary Boxcab to put them under....BUT, I'll find one someday!
Sean, whats the details like on those? Do they come with all the roof top details and such from Cary?I have never had one so I'm unsure of it. And from the picture of yours, its difficult to tell what the detailing is like from Cary....

Nice job Ray!
John, the details on the roof are metal, so i assume they are original to the Cary kit. I have never had an non-built kit, so i can not say for sore, but I do not see why they would not be supplied.

Sean, Well that makes sense! I wasn't sure as remember the last time Cary made anything they were under Bowser and I wasn't sure if those were detail parts, or part of the shell, as you could at one time get brass details for the Cary diesel loco's from Cal-Scale, which was and still is under Bowser....
Nice thing is, I have a few Cary diesel shells myself, a FM H10-44, a S-2, and a SW1500 all to fit the Athearn frames..... I tell ya, they are heavy! and will pull for a small loco!

Thanks Guyz, Yes, it is a shortened AHM wide vission caboose shell. I think shortening an MDC boxcab shell would look nice.
