Come on Ken you've already used those before Is it okay to have 4?? Just picked up 4 nice old units from my favorite train store!
here's loco #1 a bachmann 2-8-2. Ran right out of box, then cracked a couple drive axles. I have a few spares or i'll just seal them. But even after they were sealed the locomotive wouldn't run at all?? Got a lot of work ahead of me
loco #2 a 1950s Band-Drive Athearn GP9!! Got it for $5 and got the motor running but it needs drive bands..
loco's #3 and #4 probably the favorite to you guys, 2 athearn F7a black widows!!! The unit in the front here is powered while the other is a dummy. Powered one was $15 and dummy was $5!!
here's the dummy, look closely as the 3rd picture! The front F7a is SO detailed it's scary! Windshield wipers, air hoses, windows, beacon, horns, grab irons, and an uncoupling pin!!

Hey Hyde, Alan ordered some band drives a few months ago for me and told me they send him a whole bunch of them. I know he has them in stock. If not, let me know. I have a whole bunch of them as well.

It's been a while for me but got to work on engines this week given that the girlfriend was really busy this weekend. This little rivarossi came out of a junkyard lot.
partway into the restoration. Still needs some work and a atsf set of decals.

This is my LOTW:
It is an Atlas FP7. I plan to strip the paint off the shell and use the shell, along with the shell and chassis of another FP7 in a New Haven FL9 kitbash project, involving another Atlas SD unit of some sort. All that is needed from the SD unit is one of the 6-wheel power truck assemblies.
I have been amassing detail parts for a while and just need to get off my lazy butt and get crack'n! It is just stuff like soccer coaching my daughters (plural) team and working on the 4-room addition that are keeping me from dedicating any time to my HO modeling.
Bugger! At least I'll be ready with all the parts by the time I am ready to start. Heck.. who knows... I may have several locos saved so i can start an assembly line of sorts by then.

Well I ought to add in my newest edition for the LOTW....
I got 2 of them! the first one I been looking for awhile and have had trouble finding it. Thanks to my wife and celebrating our Anniversery this past Tuesday (yesterday) she knew I collect Chessie diesels, so this is what I found as a gift:

WELL now, I'm REALLY happy asthis Chessie, turns out to be a BQ23-7! Which, will be re-painted in Seaboard Family Lines poaint with a CSX reporting mark and roadnumber of 3004!
THEN she comes out with this:

And to beat all odds, she comes out to tell me she bought them at the local "Antique Mall" shop! I about craped my pants, thinking what in the hell did she pay for these!?
As you guys know the BQ23-7 is rare and alot of times, over priced! The 2-8-4, is a RIVAROSSI Berkshire missing its tender but does run! Then she says was $10.00 to much for both of them? My heart went back to its proper place and I was like yep.....VERY good price (not that I needed to know but was nice, musta been the look on my face that made her ask me if the price was OK!)
Needless to say, I had a GREAT Anniversery to say the least... so my Wife being a gardener, I got her 4 bags of potting soil and a bunch of items for her in doors planting for the season end as she grows some awesome flowers that I might add, I'd LOVE to put some G scale track through!

Ben, Sadly, that Chessie won't be painted in Chessie to long! Because of the locomotive type that it is.....It will be painted in Seaboard Family Lines paint, with a CSX marking and roadnumber!
This is what it will look like when I'm finished:

Reason why? Back in 1978, GE made these, and Seaboard Family lines was thee ONLY railroad to purchase them! There was only 10 of them EVER made......Seaboard owning ALL of them, this is how they came to CSX!
I have this model already made:

Now, I have a "set" that one day, I'll also have another one to make the "B" unit that CSX created as the cab had all its windows plated over.....

Ray, Isn't an RSO locomotive as you pictured basically an IHC, OR Model Power from back in the day?
As that one you pictured looks ALOT like a IHC model or even a Model Power unit.....

They were made for Model Power, Life/Like and even Tyco. The IHC was an upgraded version.

From the bell positioning it almost looks like an AHM/Rivarossi. I recall all IHC, model power, and or RSO 4-6-2s and 2-8-2s looking the same. The smokebox door doesn't look like an IHC. But it's you model so clearly you know what it is.

I replaced the bell wih a Cal Scale bell. It does change the look a bit. I also modified the crosshead guide hanger and filed off some of the cast on details and added wire railings before I repainted it. I actually take the fact that you compare it to an AHM/Rivarossi as a compliment. Thanks.

Yes I must second Hyde's comment,. NICE work! The details looked different, BUT I knew from the plastic body lines it wasn't Rivarossi.....(I have a select reason for this) but, anyway, it does carry ALOT of the same IHC body lines!
I'll have to post one of my re-worked IHC 2-8-2's!

Mike, NICE TYCO or Mantua! I picked up a Mantua version of that a few years ago at a Antique Mall me and my wife went too on Fathers day and picked up one with "York Central" on the tender for $7.00! Needed one valve gear rivet put on it as it was missing and the rod were hanging but no big deal... come to find the motor was NEVER ran! the drivers weren't even "run scarred"!!!!
