I bid on this due to the advice of a knowledgeable friend in the hobby. It's a post '78 GP20 in the rare B&O livery, It's all original and not a repaint, in an auction pic. I have pictures of it damaged in the shipping, both couplers broken off and a section of the rear pilot near the steps broken off and the conductors side front hand rail bent hard out of shape. The seller made an agreeable adjustment on the selling price after I told him of the damage. It was actually packaged nicely but the engine was able to bounce around freely against the packaging. I have replaced the couplers, an easy task since these came with draft box screws instead of rivets and straightened out the hand rail with the step piece to be glued. The wheels actually took the most time to clean before it would run nicely. My friend says that mantua modified the shell and I think you can see some modifications near the slots where the trucks mount. The screw in tank weight says Mantua USA and it has an MU2 style motor mounted on a PT type bogey.

I have a few of the TYCO's GP20's..... Sadly NOT one of them is factory B&O paint......Even tho, the B&O NEVER had GP20's, I'd love to begin this "odd" collecting of non prototypical models, in the roads, I model just to add to my "fleet"
I do however have ALOT of GP20 shells and parts!

I have 2 tyco GP20s, well only 1 operable and it's a 1962 Mantua kit version, the former Rio grande unit was purchased by me on ebay 4 years ago. Only recently did I make it a fabulous runner! The other GP20 i have is an old Chattanooga one, but the PT blew so I took it apart, repainted the shell black for a spare and have used the parts on other engines.
I buy, repair, and collect http://scvr.weebly.com/ http://seyboldlocomotiveworks.weebly.com/ http://www.youtube.com/user/TheDeputation?feature=watch Hyde.

| I have one of those early New Mantua B&O GP20's too, from a sealed box, but with the standard "5628" on the cab and numberboards to match. It's really a good-looking scheme on that loco. My only complaint - a minor one - is it might have looked even better with the starburst logo on the nose, but that's an easy enough mod.
