Ok this is my first project, started out as an "OOOOOPS oh S***T" moment, but then I thought about it more and more and kinda started liking what had happened and decided it was worth keeping for a wreck train scene that I do have planned for my layout! So in a way you could say it was a free score :D

Yes it is....was a Tyco car too...I think...anyways hope to see what you all think as I may make more cars similar to this if enough people seem to like them!

I'm curious to know how you actually did this XD. I've messed some rolling stock in my time, but I've never successfully bent a car like that. What's you secret?

Welcome to the forum, btw!

Just need to find out the right amount of heat really, this one bent beautifully for my sakes ;) anyways I may start doing more of these if enough people want this type of thing done hehe ;) I just used an old oven to help it along tho ;) it was mostly sunlight and heat from the sun (was trying to dry the paint originally and fell asleep that day forgot about it and oops)...the car was originally a "Peabody short line" car, was going to repatch it to my rail road name "New Berlin RR" but since this happened it was now destined for a crash scene instead, which is very plauseable for a car anyways ;)

we are currently in a 2 week competition here in Grand Rapids, Mi called Art Prize. Over 1500 artist from all over the world have entered. It is displayed everywhere down town including sculptures in the river

First prize is $200,000

Put a couple of those together and call it "train Wreck". Better than some of the things I've seen so far

An oven you say XD. That probably would have been my guess based on the state it's in. The worst I've ever done is this one time when I was trying to strip paint off an engine shell. The shell basically melted in the stripper. It did get the paint off though...

well I was trying to bake the paint on which makes the paint harden if you bake it then put it in the freezer almost immediately, least for other things like my metal paintball markers it works, but I guess this plastic stuff trains are made from is too sensitive LOL

another way to "bend" a car or locomotive, is to put it in the window of a car, whether rear view or windshield, on a sunny day... will do the EXACT same thing! With a slower re-action time.....

thats how it started, once I noticed it I just toeed it in the oven to finish it and make it achieve the "oops" look, so my rails had a slight accident on them it will buff out right?

What kind of accident on your rails?

Depends on what type to buff them out. I'm not sure I'm understanding what your talking on here as far as your tracks!

refering to said car above ;) I guess its kind of an in joke if you will, but I figure that since it happened instead of throwing out the car which in reality is still good for use in some way I could put a bridge of sorts up and place the car on the pylon as if it derailed and was banged into the pylon by what ever was behind it and it was bent like that partly around said pylon(s), if that all makes sense to ya :) 8)

I'd add a bunch of scratches. Paint the whole model a base color of silver. Apply small lines of Micro-Mask in various areas, especially in the major dents. Then paint the whole car the road color. After the paint dries, peel off the Mask, revealing the silver paint. I'd also gouge the plastic slightly, before I applied the silver and put the mask on the gouges.
Unspoken expectations are premeditated failures.
