My first train set ever was a Tyco set...with Burlington silver F unit and matching 8 wheel caboose...I dont remember if it was a circle or an oval of track and I dont remember the power pack...I've looked in several places...the only one I could find close was "The Pacemaker" T6421A, but is has a bobber caboose....would anyone know which set I had ('63/'64) freight with the loco and caboose mentioned above? I'd like to try to re-assemble it, now that I have the F unit.
Thanx

mine was a Bachmann Golden Spike & mine did NOT have the Golden Spike boxcar
I still have most of it today
It also had the blinking bridge with it too
I think Bachmann could of made that with a SEPERATE hook up instead of on the track
What it would do is slow down the loco even at high speed

I'm guessing you've checked HOSeeker? I don't know a whole lot about Tyco's freight sets, but I know they often sold sets with the same name and contents but with different roadnames. If you check the catologs on HOSeeker it usually says in fine print what other roadnames were available. If you've already done that, hopefully someone else here will have some more info

My first TYCO layout was an over-under figure eight
New Haven 50' PD Boxcar
Shell 40' Tank car
Virginia 40' Hopper car
Frisco 50' Auto Loader w/ 3 AMX & 3 Comaros
ATSF 50' Trailer Train flatcar with two matching trailers and trucks

It was a Commerative 1776/1976 Set with the Presidential Alco Super 630 w/matching caboose...

It was an offer From Kellogg's Sugar Frosted Flakes (Tony The Tiger) for $30 or $40?
Christmas 1976 was memorable.

John

I have no original pieces, but I have rebought some of the cars in multiple quantities.

I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out.
"I love your catenary!"
Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

I've done some more searching ...but I'm still stumped...The Pacemaker had a bobber caboose, and the Burlington express had a GP 20 instead of an F unit, but had the 8 wheel
caboose...

I noticed in the '62 catolog there was an F7 set which was pictured with a bobber but listed an 8-wheel caboose in the description. Have you been reading the fine print or just looking at pictures? There's always the chance that your set had some substitutions in it as well . Maybe if hoseeker ever gets the 1963 Tyco catolog uploaded you'll find a match

My first train set was from Bachmann. It has the Santa Fe SD40-2 with the blinking light, and "space aged electronics" as advertised. Along with a 50 ft plug door box car with Chef Boyardee on it, a Shell tank car, a N&W hopper car, and a 3 axle flat car, with logs, and a matching Santa Fe Wide Vision Caboose!

Sadly, I can't find the name of this set on the Collectors sites, neither Tony's OR HO Scale Resource! Its from I believe 1982....As my grandmother got it from 5 or 8 UPC's off butter for me, for a Christmas gift the same year.

I woke up Christmas morning to find it running around under my Christmas tree. (I am STILL amazed at it! It was sat up on a 38 inch circle of 3/8th plywood, and ran ALL NIGHT LONG! Without derailment.....

I still have the set, even the power pack, the only part of it I don't have is the steel track that came with the set, as it came with an oval of track, that had 4 straight sections of track that my Dad did not use under the tree. It came with the Plasticville station, signal tower, and a trestle set with bridge, with the blinking light.

Anyway, anyone know what the name of this set was? I got the original paper work with it too but it doesn't give a name for the set.

I hope it's okay that I kinda piggy-backed, rearranged or supported our "Where's My Train?" into "First Love in Model Trains" thread.

I see also that I'm not the only one who's added...

Caboose 1, bringing the end of trains to the beginning of our joys!

Isn't it ironic?

JOHN
