Though a tad bit out of focus this came with no box but the wheels show no track time. Bought it for less than half of the popular auction site cost.

| It looks like AF's Pennsy is the Tyco car and Ray's is the Mantua release.

The guy I got this from was selling this for $10 bucks, but I talked him down to $2 because it was missing the information on one side of the car. Pretty sure it a TYCO error because there is no shadowing, rub marks, or scratches from where someone tried to remove the information from the side.

My COTW is an all wood with metal trimming watermelon car. (I think that is what they are called?)
I think it is either a Silver Streak or Mainline Models kit. Note the two different door option.

Ben, That is what I figured, but for some reason it is referred to as a watermelon car. I "Googled" it and here is what I found:

Am I the only one thinking this might have been a sample? Often the samples only had lettering on one side and that looks PRISTINE on the back. I never quote pictures but this time I am. I'd pay the $10 plus shipping!

Nice car Frank! Me likey!
I have a thing for the old wood hand built cars. Sure, being made of more fragile natural material like wood or metal, some things may look a little awkward and possibly out of scale at times, but nothing beats the look and feel of it over plastic.
I have a ton of old kit built cars packed away and in storage. I hope to have them on display sometime. Every lot I get that has some nice ones, I keep them.

Got this beauty from my dad - new to me! Not the track cleaner but a nice Revell MOW bunk car.

I love the MOW stuff so this is something new I never had before to start again.

What is really extraordinary about this model is the DETAIL. If you look at the screen door on the side, there is a molded in angled adjustable rod like in a real door, but it's BEHIND the screening, not in front, so it's appearance is muted. And the door is slightly off-kilter. I have several of these, and they are just a joy to look at and see all the work that went into making this model and the amount of mold work required. You won't find many pieces of rolling stock with this level of detail already molded in. Thanks for sharing.

My COTW is a tanker, not a common sight I'm sure.

Speaking of detail, did you notice the grab-irons on the other side? The ones that go to the roof are not all perfect, actually molded to look worse for wear!

But, this Revell also has another purpose... I have one just the same body, etc, but also is/was an old track cleaner, equipped with a lever that raised or lowered two emery stones...

yeah, stones to scrape the rail clean of gunk... actually, it also created scratches, giving more space for gunk such as oil, dust to accumulate... clean more, scratch more!
Awesome COTW's entries!
John
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

Hello everyone im a newbie from Canada; ...but i really want to Thank the guy who posted the pics for the revell MOW car....i got 2 of those from ebay - one red and one grey; the grey one without the track cleaning (thingy) below; AND i've almost lost all the hair on my head trying to figure out what was really supposed to be there ; its got the mechanism intact - but missing the Stones.... but i wonder if that will be helpful for cleaning tracks... cause abrasions big time...maybe i'll figure something better with a Liquid containing system
