Guys, Heres something I fell upon while snapping pictures that I never took pictures of:

I made these from trucks I had laying around, that were extra's! The rest of what you see, is ALL brass made, and then painted.
I plan to make these unloaded, AND loaded.....Thing is, I have alittle work yet to do to them, I want to have hanging chains and stuff on them so.....PLUS, I may figure out a way to toss alittle "bark" on them as well!

shay, Thanks! You know Kadee charges an outrageous amount for their disconnect cars.. I can't justify it so, thats why I sat down with what I had and tried my hand at brass building a couple......
I'd LOVE to be able to cast the MDC Roundhouse log cars out of resin plastic as I love the looks of them! Which, I have a bunch of those too!

Yes their prices erk me as those molds were paid for years ago but, as always, it's the customer that sets the price...the seller only ramps them up 'til someone squawks... I got mine the usual way...dirt cheap and in a box...

Shay, your absolutely right! Thats why I'll do my best to build my own if the proper materials are at hand in my shop......I just can't justify $29.00 plus shipping for 2 of what I custom made, posted above! Thats just crazy! Considering, I got about $4.00 in the 2 you see that I made, and mine are made from brass stock!

John,
Those are awesome! I have a bunch of old ones stashed away myself. They may be Kadee, I do not remember.

Sean, THANKS! I would like to get more of those type trucks to build more of them then what I have lined up currently! I believe they are TYCO/Mantua trucks from the passenger cars!
I'd love to have a set or 2 from Kadee, but the cost is outrageous!
Ben, As per EVERY log car I load, it will be REAL wood, NOT that plastic crap that just don't look like wood! The ones seen here, will remain, unloaded however......

Awesome log bogies, John. They probably need the weight of some logs to track right.

Nelson, Actually no! I filled ALL the brass tubing with melted lead, to fill it all in, for weight, and then all the soldering was done with lead solder as well thats originally for stained glass work.
Then I added metal wheel sets with metal axles which I got just one of those to 2.3 ounces!
I didn't think it would work either, BUT it did! Atleast behind my Spectrum 3 truck Shay, and my Rivarossi 3 truck Hiesler, they run fine! Even with a couple loaded MDC Roundhouse Log cars tailing them!
But, as you see them, now, you'll notice, no detail, I'll be adding chain and some other things to these as I have time. Which will gain me alittle more weight.
So once I get a few more made, I plan to test them alittle better, and then go from there!
