A second Great Northern C430 Mantua Tyco Alco with no road numbers on the cab was just sold at auction. Here is a picture of mine that was also the Lotw recently. No doubt now that Tyco made them purposely without the numbers.

Alco Fan, That means you could make numerous numberings of the TYCO unit to keep them numbered consecutively! Thats a GREAT thing they did.....

That makes sense as a possibility for it having no number and you're way ahead of me. I was happy to see a second one turn up because now we have proof that it wasn't tampered with, the numbers removed. The auction picture shows that this model came with a box with no liner and the picture didn't show the label. Interestingly the only picture shows the conductors side, below the window, and it looks to have a small strip of gray showing where the paint mask was not registered perfectly and mine looks that way as well. I'll post the auction picture if someone at the Tyco Forum isn't the fellow that won.

AF, I wished that more companies would do this! As it be easy to make rostered consecutive numbered items, even rolling stock, for those of us that has multiples of the same thing....
Would save alot of work, and time as well! Specially for us that do that to make the numberings correct for the railroad we're modeling.

Here's the second Mantua Tyco GN C430 Alco from last evening's auction. No road numbers like mine. The numbers were not removed. This is now three variations of the GN Alco.

You know what you say makes sense. When I was researching the 6536 NYC GP20 it was mentioned to me that many NYC modelers had renumbered their NYC GPs. I'm really glad to prove that my GN Alco wasn't tampered with and is a unique find. Also I thought someone here at the Tyco Forum would have been the owner of this latest unique GN Alco to surface in a about a month.
