It tracks great. Better than a 4 wheel caboose actually. That one was built from the leftover parts from this kitbash.

How about a 3-fer? Same vendor's $1 box,I found these 3 cabooches, the HO Bachmann needs a new base, but I liked the sliding doors, didn't know any had that feature. The other two are American Flyer S gauge.

My CotW is a Quality Craft wood kit for a B&O Canstock Car - a favorite of mine. Got this mint unbuilt a few weeks ago... it takes some time but was straightforward and a lot of fun to build. I had to correct a few errors/flaws with the kit, but otherwise it's pretty nice for 1972.

Here's what it looked like fresh out of the box:

As I found it, in a shed falling in on itself, that held the skeletal remains of a long forgotten model railroad, the only thing I did was seal the natural grime (with a minor roof touch up w/ paint and chalks) with some clear flat...

My COTW:
A vintage all wood w/ metal details Arpee & Western drovers caboose parked in front of my scratchbuilt brass PRR T1:
/tyco/forum/uploaded/Mustangs_n_Trains/20120827123726_drovers.jpg
The drovers caboose I now own can actually be seen about 5-pictures down on this page:
http://www.railroad-line.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=19856&whichpage=5
Apparently the caboose formerly belonged to a Mr. Dick Genthner of NJ. Of the 4 seen in the link I purchased the first three starting from the left. The best that i could find out about Mr. Genthner was the following:
"Dick Genthner relocated to New Jersey and brought along parts of his layout, the Arpee & Western. Dick, a Master Model Railroader, immediately started hosting operating sessions on his in-progress layout, being built into an area of 75’ x 18’! The layout was dismantled in April of 2012 when Dick moved to a new residence." I pulled that info from this page: (3/4 of the way down)
http://www.njdivnmra.org/Layouts.html
He is/was a member of the New Jersey Division MER-NMRA

Sean, Again, you pull off something interesting....not the caboose itself, but the trucks that carry it. Those are Kiesel trucks, and instead of coil springs, they are leaf sprung......I'm looking for both version, leaf and coil spring type "Kiesel" trucks.....The B&O used ALOT of them!

Justin, They are both plastic. This is a Pre-WWII one I have that is all metal:

If you compare the two models, it will become very easy to tell the plastic models from the die cast models.

This was a prayer answered, but I felt guilty paying the 23 bucks for it. When it came I felt it was well worth the price, it's a great looking car and very difficult to acquire.

Ben, You betcha it is! heres the real thing:
http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=715979
Thing is, its a basic Athearn bay window caboose, that should have had panels put into the windows and others moved around alittle but when I painted it, I didn't bother, it still looks good, but isn't a real replica has I have been doing.....This caboose was painted up when Microscale first came out with the black CSX "MOW" or "pumpkin" type lettering.....

Yep Ben, I know......That wasn't in the decal set as it was the only one that had that on the caboose and then in year was removed, to be all orange and now, (being its an old B&O Bay Window caboose) looks like this:
http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=302302
http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=2216156
BUT, originally CSX was going to paint ALL of the MOW cabs that way, till they again, changed there mind and then they were painted like this:
http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1287687
Was much simpler to do for the CSX paint shops around the system, and much cheaper and eaier so to get them done faster as CSX to this day, still has a large roster of cab's for a time when the FRED's took over for that piece of equipment.

The Side-Door ATSF Caboose was actually operational... closing it to a bit of skill... Spring loaded. It had a "catch-lever" just below the door, so that when it passed a trigger, I believe a box came out with the man as the door was sprung open.

John, In any case that was a VERY interesting car!
I believe it was a operating accessory by Bachmann. I thought it was an operating mail car? How ever, I', not certain on that and have been wrong before!
Nice tho! Would love to find one for myself!
