Here's a well-used bay caboose, B&O. that I will use eventually.

Could use some cleaning, obviously. :)

The B&O Bay Window Caboose is a Varney/Life Like caboose from the late 60's, early 70's time period.

EM-1, Gordon Varney sold his company to Life Like in 1957. Life Like continued to use the Varney name until 1968. Then started selling Varney items as Life Like.

waw, Well thats one on me! I never knew or even thought that Varney sold to Life-Like! WOW! Makes sence those as alot of the older Life-Like strongly resemble Varney!
I'll be keeping my eye out on a bay window like the one you got just because it is so close to a B&O I-7 Bay Window......

Here's my first COTW posting:

An American Flyer HO scale tie car. It's apparently an HO version of the S gauge AF tie car. It cost me $5 and even though it doesn't have any ties I think it was worth the price as a curiosity.

me too ChessieRR I even want one I'd think it'd not be hard to make ties that would fit in the bin Sometimes manufactures will make one car in both scales Just like Lionel's Automatic Flagman Which has been copied in all scales Including HO

Thanks EM-1 and Microbusss! I don't think they make replacement ties for the HO scale version, but as Microbusss pointed out it would be easy to make some out of rectangular plastic and paint to the appropriate color. The ridiculously simple tie-launching mechanism works well and looks like it could be triggered by a post or something along the tracks. I will have to try it out and install one where I want to fling ties as my layout's inhabitants!

Well one more COTW for me.....
This one has been painted and ready for assembly for awhile I just finished it up this past Sunday and will begin decaling again this weekend as the weather is much more cooperative for doing so now!
A Seaboard Family Lines Bay Window Caboose:

Not to shabby if I do say so myself! All the extra details: window glass, smoothly painted cast on grab irons, step ends painted to match caboose as per prototype, painted handrailing, and ladders, with safety yellow rungs, along with correctly assembled brake stands as aloto of times, these are backwards, as the chain to connect it to the underside equipment has the protrusion for this, and doesn't fit well the other way is it most commonly glued in wrong! I even think, it shows it in place in the instructions wrong as well, (so those would assemble it that way and come to find out the hand rail that runs across from side to side would find it difficult to add it afterwards and then, the same goes if it was done first, and then the brake wheel with stand, it would fit properly to the step porches......
Without weathering......As I don't normally weather any of my cars, or locomotives for that matter, just the car "loads" get weathering if not to be made "new" stock traveling to destination.
ENJOY!

Yes, you got a steal on it, I've seen them sell for $40 and more on auction sites. I think I paid $10 for mine. I believe someone DOES reproduce the ties for them now, though. I saw some on the 'bay for sale a few months ago. Or they're still available NOS.
