I just finishing a restoration job I had in the shop, it was a Brass UP Challenger, made by Overland, that paid well, and looks even better! It went through a house fire, fell off a wooden shelf that burnt out from under it, the fall was a 5 foot one, it hit the floor shoving the front set of engines up under the rear set of engines, ripping things to pieces. Not to mention torched brass, and burnt paint, it was a mess!!!!!!! I made all the repairs to restore its shape, custom painted it, decaled it, added some extra detail being old brass it was lacking in detail, and then gave it a good weathering. And then added my own "Yellowstone Train Repairs" Exclusive motor to power the whole thing, (The fire melted most of the original motor, so it needed replaced), which all runs smooth as glass and as strong as the real thing! HA It pulls GREAT, with alittle additive, (I put some extra weight in it so my Exclusive motor performs astonishingly.) Here's a picture of the beast.....

I just wished I had taken pictures of this one before I started!

A pretty amazing restoration. I would have thought it was only good for parts based on the description of the damage.

Well the owner of the model had thought that too! It was I believe his fathers and as it was this was I believe the first modeling of a UP challenger for Overland, and they had left off some details that I had added in and to that the shape it was in when I got it, well......I was literally scratching my own head got and thinking to myself "What have I gone and done to get myself into now!?"
BUT, the item itself was a VERY fond item for the owner as it was his Dad's I do believe and was a gift, and as far as I know the man that originally bought it, passed away thats why it was sent out for restoring.
When I got it, it was basically a pile of parts. I got a really good pay in the shop for that one as the owner want to spare no expense so I would guess it really did mean something to him! I had it for over a year, it went to its owner last Friday!
I done everything as he wanted too....The thing is, I think its a PERFECT rendition of my talents for weathering and rebuilding. I just wished I had taken pictures of it before as it doesn't give the model nor the work any justice.....As I rebuilt it to running shape, added more brass details, and then painted it, decaled it, and then weathered it as per the owners request.
