i've been working on this old athearn blue box SW1200, i gave it new drive shafts and gears, and new armature shafts. It runs for the first time since about 2003! I have to install the couplers and right side truck covers then she'll be good to go! She runs like a champ now, at first she was incredibly loud.

I bought an old Tyco General last week. It runs poorly, so I'll give her a tune up this week. I think there's a piece missing from the top of the smoke stack.

I bought the running gear for what I thought was an SD40-2, turns out it was SD40T-2 running gear. The SD40 shell wouldn't fit so I found the SP tunnel motor shell. Still looking for a set of handrails. It has DCC and is a nice runner.

Here's an A-B-B-A consist of NH C-Liners, all 60's vintage. Both powered A units are smooth, quiet runners.

Bask in their McGinnis-ness. The little aphid on the lead unit is.

My LOTW is an Athearn GP-9, picked up from the donation boxes at my club. Haven't tried to run it yet, but will go well with my B&O consist I'm building now.

Awesome Nelson! I love those units! One of the very first I ever has as a teen!
I have a pile of C-Liners stripped of their paint and sitting in a box somewhere waiting to be custom painted and lettered for New Haven! ..you know.. for when I have some free time... LOL!

Here is my LOTW. I was debating on placing this in the Set of the Week forum but these locomotives are permanently together. The 6516 is custom painted, lettered and detailed. This unit has the motor drive in it. The 4266 is an old Athearn Blue Box which I gutted out to make room for a Tsunami sound decoder and two speakers. I also added some weights to it. You can see the motor and lighting wires between the two locomotives. I love this set! I am still adding detail parts to the 4266 and her trucks need to be painted silver still. These two locomotives ran together in Crawford Notch for many years at the Conway Scenic Railroad.

Looks like I should have dusted them off first!

Those are ditch lights that haven't been painted yet. They also need to be shortened because as you can see, they're sticking out a little too far. Once the paint and lenses go on it'll look more like ditch lights and less like buffers

Thanks, Sean. I thought some NH diesels might get your attention. I paid $7 for the first of the B units, and $5 for the latest. They're going for ridiculous amounts on eBay, so it pays to scrounge.
CSRR, those F-units are beautiful. Nicely done. Is the one marked for Conway Scenic in a heritage scheme, or is that their own design?

Thanks! The scheme on the 6516 (as well as her sister unit 6505) is a modified version of the CN heritage scheme using their own colors. It was by far the best paint scheme to come from that railroad. http://www.railpictures.net/images/d1/6/3/0/9630.1253639837.jpg http://photos.nerail.org/showpic/?1998112616014800342.jpg:bysearch:conway+6516:SEARCHTYPE=SIMPLE&PAGE=10&BOOL=ALL&SEARCHSTRING=conway+6516

My LOTW--A Bowser (former Varney) "Old Lady" consolidation. Very nice condition but came without a tender, so I used one from an ill-fated PFM brass loco. It's a great fit. Currently it's undecorated.

Possibly Frisco, but I'm stil looking at prototypes to try to at least get close. Apparently the SP had some like this, and my book on the KCM&O (Orient) shows some that look similar which were actually ex-NYC units. So it will probably stay undec. for a while. Chris

Ben, the B units are harder to find than the A's, but they do show up on eBay pretty frequently. I obtained all of them at various shows.
