...or "How to use one of those stupid 'dummy' trolleys they sell on eBay"....
...in HO, my current project...

There were actually several of them with varying details--the first had a gloss black body with gold seats and a red roof--so I'm doing this guilt free, following only the basic details. The power truck actually runs quite slow and well, so long as the track is clean.

Awesome project... my not-so-hidden inner child is beyond pleased! But, be warned, it won't ever be complete until you build the King's Castle ;)

So true Tony! What drive is that Bob? I'm taking it that the body being used is a Bachmann "cable car"?

Thanks guys...it's two Bachmann SF Cable cars, though you could easily use one of those Reader's Digest dummy promos (I didn't want to break up a valuable set ) The power unit comes from the cable car...runs quite well after adding a couple ounces to it...

The windows fore and aft were fairly easy, just clip and file...

Thanks a sweet kitbash Shay. I share your fondness of trolleys and razor saws.
But where are you going to find an authentic sounding whistle?

When I was kid I'd sit through the whole show just for glimpses of the trolley. Who knew I'd be a railfan?
Nice project, SG.

A neat project with historic implications. Good work. I'm going to guess that the original trolley is still in Pittsburgh PA and may be displayed maybe in the Carnegie Museum of Natural History.

Yes, it's an unpowered modified TYCO Brill trolley pulled across the set by a string thru a stick under the set...

O RLY?? Did not know that Should find a crummy Tyco trolley & have one of you make the trolley hehe Was any of the buildings a off-the-shelf models or modified? Also I wouldn't of used a Bachmann cable car since they are super expensive I'd of used one of them cheap cable cars instead

Just eye one on eBay or just use of the silly "dummy" trolley bodies on a Tyco MU-2 truck.

All the buildings are familiar kits (to us old folks anyway ), modified to suit the whim of the original builder.
I never pay retail...or wholesale ...I picked up two cable cars for $10 total, one at a hobby shop, one at a swap meet---NIB---. One is being used in another project that's stalled right now...
