Guys,
Well, I think I have mentioned some time ago that I made a promiss to myself that I wasn't going to indulge into collecting N scale, well, as of about a month ago, I have! (I had to tell the Wife, that wasn't promisses made to be broken? )

Anyway, I wnat to keep all my trains in the same roam of modeling, B&O and Western Maryland, for the time being, (we'll see where it goes from here)

So, with that I got me a set of Life-Like SD7/9's that are WAY To nice in detail to be "train set" Life-Like.....So, I plan to paint them B&O, as the WM never had the SD7/9's.....I believe they are early Proto-2000 units!

With this said, I was doing some decal work over the weekend with left over decals I had laying around the shop in storage to rid me of them as fast as possible, (there old!) I bought a auction off Ebay something like 8 or 9 years ago, and they were used then! SO, upon doing some fast decal work on some CSX freight cars in HO scale, I got to looking at the set, they are Microscale number 87-504, which include B&O/C&O/WM/ amd SBD "reporting" marks that go above the roadnumber for this set of decals...... which is for freight cars, Box, Hoppers and Gondolas.....

When I had a closer look at these decals, they have 3 different sizes of these reporting marks, and 2 of the smaller sets, are almost PERFECTLY sized for N scale, to paint up a few B&O "Capitol Dome" type paint schemes! Which also include numbers to match as well! All I have to get is the B&O blue on the shell, with all lens and glass removed, and add in my own yellow sill stripe as per prototype.....

So, I'm using HO scale decals thats the right size to be used in N scale.....Saved me buying more decals, as I have an order for $200.00 worth right now with a few packs on back order, which includes atleast one pack for a board member here!

I know and realize, I won't be able to pull this one off to offen but I'll just say, I got PLENTY of these to do MANY B&O "Capitol Dome" paint jobs on diesels!

Interesting find, I might add..........

Moral of the story? Look OUTSIDE THE PACK, you'd be amazed at what you may find!
