Are you going to want to put another horn-hook/X2F coupler in its place?
Sometimes, you may have to abandon the use of the coupler section, saw or snap it off, mount a kadee coupler assembly to the body. If the coupler was fastened by the little brass pin, it's a matter of removing that pin as you dig out the remains of the coupler spring...
Sometimes a photo can be helpful as well your printed description.

I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

Ben, In most cases those are all press fitted into the truck if your talking about the ones that have the Talgo mounted METAL draft gear boxes.....
The plastic ones, that are also Tago mounted you can merely twist the X2F coupler to one side and pull and it will release....
The metal draft gear boxes require a little more work, and I myselg would not use a pin, thats press fitted into it after removing it, tap the hole where the pin was press fitted with a 0-80 screw, and then use the screw itself as the pin as well......ALOT easier to replace in the future if it gets broke!

Ya can use AlcoFan's way of replacing the coupler. Just gently pry up on the coupler box lid and careful not to bend the rivet. To install back on, use a pair of pliers and gently squeeze it back on. If ya bend the rivet, it'll be hard to straighten up!
" Heck with counting 'em rivets, TRAINS ARE FOR FUN! Not called the Mad Scientist for nothing either!"
