While trying to design my deck railing railroad, I was trying to keep it all on one level, but the snag is that to make a double track loop, you need four of the 90 degree crossovers side by side, and the shorty ones are extremely hard to get. I bought 4 Atlas nickel-steel 4 inch crossovers, and will cut them down so the track distance is about 2 to 2-1/2 inches apart on centerline. Since my HO deck module railroad isn't very big / long, I didn't want to introduce a steep grade, either, if I did an over-under. I guess it would handle it, but was trying to avoid it. Anyone else ever done a dual double-track crossover before? Could cause trouble for single-truck powered engines, even with the fairly nice electrical contact area in the center of the crossovers. If I did a single line, I'd have to work with the reverse loop scenario, which I want to avoid. So looks like I"ll be doing some kit-bashing of track cross-overs soon. Thinking about mounting them on a cork square used for a pin-board, so keep it all solid. Feel free to chip in with any comments on a 4-way cross configuration.
