Hi Guys!
I am posting this one early because i know I will not have time tomorrow. I just bid on and got this interesting contraption. It appears to be an unfinished kitbash between a SIERRA diecast passenger car and a ULRICH Kenworth semi. It looks to have been made to run on the rails and is apparently powered. Although I have not yet received it, I am interested in seeing the creators thoughts and methods.

Kind of follows my theme from last week actually!

Sean, Thats interesting! I'd like to see how they "powered" it myself.......I wonder if they used "The Flea" type gearing......

That's unique. There was no doubt a prototype somewhere for it.

You know EM-1, I should have thought of that too considering I have two lose units sitting here now. Those are what was used in the Ghost and I have two of those as well! LOL!
I bet you are right. It would only make sense now that you mention it.

Hey guys!
Got some new pictures to show. Quite surprising is that unit is quite heavy with a flywheel drive!

A rubber band drive? I guess it's a speedy little bugger.
That looks like a homemade flywheel, but why in two keyed pieces?

A clutch would definitely help slow it down, but it just looks like two keyed pieces with set screws holding them to the shaft(s). I can't see how they would engage/disengage. Sean, does the flywheel have any internals?
It was a pretty creative project.

Now THAT is a truely interesting part!
I believe from the looks of it that the flywheel is 2 sections with teeth for a type of "coupling" but nothing more..... I somehow recall seeing or having something like that a few years ago.....NOT the whole truck but that motor and flywwheel assembly!
NEAT!

I HAVE NOT DISSECTED THE FLYWHEEL BUT IT DOES SEEM TO HAVE SOME SORT OF INTERNAL COMPONENT. i RALLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT THIS CLUTCH MECHANISM IS OR DOES,. i HAD A HANDFUL THAT i SOLD OFF A WHILE BACK BECAUSE i HAD ABSOLUTELY NO UNDERSTANDING OF THEM. THEY LOOK LIKE THESE (SORT OF) AND i COULD NOT SEE HOW THEY DID ANYTHING DIFFERENT THAN A REGULAR FLYWHEEL.
(tHEY WERE ALL NEW IN THE PACKAGE AND LABELED AS CLUTCHES)
Oops.. sorry for the caps.. I just tested this one - it powered up well - it ran with a slight vibration at mid speed, but at top speed it was super smooth with nearly no vibration that i could feel in my hand.

If you look closely at the "flywheel" again, you will see what appears to ab a ring of aluminum (sort of like a tree ring, around the shaft. The outer part of the flywheel appears to be made of there parts, a inner small brass ring core, (through which the shaft goes, an aluminum ? ring ? and then the outer toothed ring with the hex screw. Seems like a lot of work for a standard flywheel - has to be a clutch or something, whatever that means...
