My AOTW this week is a vintage track cleaner by Ulrich, bought from a toy vendor in March at an antique show. His prices were very good on the HO train stuff. I've been on a track cleaner collecting binge for awhile, got a few now, having a nice older unit is pretty sweet.

Jerry, good one! (I finally figured out a part I have and what it goes too!)

This car, has a section of metal on it that holds the "wiper" against the rails......I have this part! I thought it was something that went ot an old record player, OR an 8 track player due to the felt stuff on it for a wiper to keep "junk" out of the heads and or off the record playerspinning table.....

NICE!

This is one is several Ulrich trucks I have been buying every chance I can. I might have 20-30 trucks by now. Not sure. I might have more. I never really counted. Every time I buy one, it goes into a box and into storage until I am able to eventually set up a layout. I have been buying more than usual lately, I guess because of slim pick'ns of good steam locos on evil bay. I also have about 4 Revell Global Van Lines trucks and one transporter. Can't have a good rail line without the big trucks now can you?

In late 2009, I paid ~$32 inc s/h for this one.

Urlich Schlitz Beer Tuck - Purchased & imported from England

I wonder why the Ulrich trucks fetch so much? One tanker truck in kit form sold yesterday for over $100. Why? If the demand is that high, why do we not have any companies willing to produce a good quality truck? Standard selling price for a good Ulrich is about $30 or more, but the Mini Metals Semi Tractor is a pretty good product and it barely sells for $10-$15. Why?

I purchased this detailed with load Mini Metals United States Steel Semi Truck at a train show for $20 a few years back and I think it really looks great.

WELL THAT JUST SUCKS! That might explain why it seems their prices have risen. I basic paid full price for each of these in this lot here. Usually buying in a lot, you can expect to get a slightly better deal. I was also beat out on a lot this weekend that was almost the same size.

Wow! I can't believe those prices, especially given the condition. I have some Ulrich SP trailers on a flatcar, but with some white oxidation.

Sean, that scrap load in the US Steel truck looks fantastic.

Hey Nelson!

I have a couple of the flat cars with the same problem. They must have been stored in a damp environment before they came to me. If you are looking to part with them, I'm your man! LOL!

As for the Mini Metals truck, I do think they are nice for the money. I picked up 4 trucks and trailers this week for $35 including s/h. All four are brand new in the package. I used to think that was a lot of money, but after seeing the prices of the Ulrich trucks, I think they are a bargain. Given the fact they will no longer be producing any trucks, I think I will keep all I have left of the Ulrich and not sell any more. (Not that I ever remember selling any anyway!)

The collection mine came from were stored in a trunk in a wet garage, so I know they were exposed to moisture. I manged to get most of the oxidation off, though. If it's all right with you, I think I'll hold on to them a while longer...
