after over 6 lost bids i've finally purchased a parts supplier on ebay! The reason I bought a parts supplier was because i've been trying to finish restoring my dads old mantua 0-4-0, to summarise the story i've told many times on here, the loco was in awful shape when my dad gave me this engine along with the rest of his collection. It was missing the cab and smokebox door front. I didnt find out that the engine was in even worse mechanical shape then cosmetic until about 3 years into the project. Side note i got the collection in 2007, i didnt start restoring it until late 2008 but between 2010-2012 is when the major work was done. I had 3 major set backs which were: a screw stuck in the tender frame. The rods were bent and the drive wheels had a quartering problems. Lastly was all the missing stuff the engine and tender had. 2010 the frame and boiler was painted and a cab aquired. 2011 plans for her restoration were made, but thats when the set backs happened and i was so caught off guard i didn't know what to do. So begining 2012 i found a used tender in great shape that i stripped, repainted and resassembled so that sparked my enthusiasm to get it finished before my birthday which is may 1st. I started getting nervous qfter losing over 5 bids at the last second on mantua shifter parts suppliers. Now i finally won a great diecast older version for $10 and $6 shipping! I needed the complete wheel rod sets so now i have a spare tender, engine frame, and yet another boiler! I already have a spare boiler that i repainted so i have spare parts if anyone needs. Sorry i'm not aloud to save photos until we figure out how we got a computer virus that wipedout all memory pictures now all gone! over 3 years of layout and engine progression now gone! so i can't upload photos of my purchase. But this shifter is in perfect condition! no scratches, and the seller said it runs but not good so i have a spare motor that runs now. It was by far the cleanest 0-4-0 shifter i've ever seen. I can't believe i thought this was summarizing it

I haven't got the engine yet, sorry forgot to mention, i just won the engine a few hours ago. It is planned to be here by thursday next week

Nice summarization. Just you haven't show what the engine you got from your Dad looks like. Maybe when the other one comes you can do a side by side.

I've shown what my shifter looks like, look in the mantua section and look for a topic that says 0-4-0 restoration progress. I will take pictures of the parts supplier shifter before I strip it.
