On the older metal boilers, the smokebox front is part of the boiler casting. It's not a separate part.

Honestly, if you got the metal boiler, I'd simply swap out one for the other as the metal boiler will pull much better then the plastic one and to cut them, well you'll go through a few teeth of that razor saw to say the least.......As they are 100% interchangable......

I wouldn't tempt to ruin the metal version, HELL if you want to get that together on the plastic version, I'll give you a boiler front for it as I have alot of them!

Then again, thats just me, I wouldn't ruin a good metal boiler to put the parts on a plastic boiler!

Many have tried to, and failed, ya just can't repair stupid...

Do NOT try to Idiot-Proof anything!!!! God, will simply create a better......IDIOT!

Oh they are interchangeable?! Sweet!! Il hate myself a little for now using the original boiler but il swap both periodically. I found out that my mehano 2-6-0s smokebox door fits great, although it's silver and my boiler for the shifter is black. It gives the SP style headlight position which I love so if I ever come across another Ihc 2-6-0 I'll use it's smokebox door.
