A few have known about this for a while and I've stayed pretty quiet, but I can't help but share now that it's official: my layout will be on the cover of a national model RR magazine, that I also write for. O.O
Er, more like *is* on the cover, since the March issue of Model Railroad News is now shipping. I was asked to join them last summer and my first review was published in the Sept 2011 issue. I had a couple more in the pipeline but they got lost/shuffled before they went on hiatus... those have now been combined into March and as a result I was asked to retake a couple shots I'd submitted with the reviews, with an eye toward "how a cover might look". Well, surprise surprise...
Kind of a big honor, especially since this is the first "all new" issue since the hiatus, and now under White River ownership. Anyway, if you're interested look for it at better hobby shops and bookstores (I'm told Barnes & Noble carries it), or read more (with photo previews) on my site.
Just thought a few people here might like to know since a lot of that got started and finished, as well as the cover loco from concept to reality, while I was on here.

| Finding & buying this! Great to see someone who's been in this little corner of the net for years get some well deserved recognition. I always thought the STC was a good mix of size, detail, and overall functionality that was easy for most modelers to aspire too. Congratulations Tony!

Congrats, Tony. I'll have to look for it at the LHS. I didn't know MRN was publishing again... last I heard from them was an email last year saying they had ceased publishing.

Awsome news Tony. I'd say you did a good job of keeping quiet. I'll look for it and brag that I know you from the "Tyco Forum" when I buy it.

That's cool! Congratulations. Magazine sales will be up slightly, with the folks here on the forum buying a copy, including me. Thank you for your contributions here on the forum and to the model railroad hobby.

I visited my local-to-work hobby shop, and they had the April edition out already! Yikes! Then I spotted a March on a lower shelf. Whew! Grabbed that one in a hurry! Glad I got one when I did. Now how to get it autographed....

Thank you everyone for the compliments and kind words.
It's funny - when it came in the mail on Wednesday, I was struck. I mean, the layout was less then 6 feet underneath where I stood, still largely unchanged from the photo shoot in mid-February. So I knew where it was, and that it exists, and is real. And yet it seemed entirely surreal to see it on a magazine cover. It's an odd but nice feeling. I mean it's not MR or RMC, but it's a start perhaps, and a rare honor all the same.
As for autographs... perish the thought... but if you're serious send me a PM and I'll be happy to oblige.
I have a review in the April issue too. It was somewhat controversial, there was a bit of editing involved...

Hey, I got an idea for your autographs...
Put it on decal paper, charge $5.00 and a SSAE. And everyone can have a copy of it stuck to their mag or LOTW, COTW...
The $5 would go towards Tony's next project!
John
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

I kid I kid. Glad I was able to find one. Hobby shop failed me on this one and Barnes & Noble had only a copy or two hidden behind a bunch of other mags. Nice articles Tony!

I looked at the LHS and no luck there or at Books a Million. I see they can be ordered from White River productions on the net.
