Hey Guys:
Just thought I'd mention that Accurail in today's market is a good deal at around $15 per/car and they are made in the US employing American's. The money is going to Asia. From my perspective while not exactly in my backyard it is in my cousins backyard!
There are often deals on EB for there stuff. They are well made ad the people are very helpful.....

I'll endorse this... I've been a big fan of their stuff since I first discovered it about 13 years ago. Their line isn't the broadest but it's really well made and has a few interesting prototypes, and excellent paint in flat finishes.
Also their Accumate knuckle couplers are the superior "budget" option IMO; their split-shank two-piece design provides a durable load-bearing knuckle, and eliminates the weak failure-prone points of McHenry couplers (namely the knuckle hinge and "tongue" spring) with no springs to lose either.
And of course being USA-made these days is significant in itself, and certainly worthy of note as their prices fly in the face of the "can't compete without Chinese production" so-called "wisdom".

I have to put a thumbs up with accurail as well. My only downside to them is they don't make tank cars or passenger cars

Hey Ray:
Odd, you're right though.... not concerned so much about the "Varnish" as the tankers.... hmmmmmm wonder how I'll deal with that. Could use some stuff made in Hong Kong when it was still British..... Does Kato do Tank cars?
