I got bored so I started customizing my Bachmann GP-40 from actual pictures. I have a long way to go. I started on the nasty yellow front handrails tonight and added classification lights along with the proper Leslie RS5T (my personal favorite) and a touch of weathering bhind the cab. It has a LONG way to go but I cant wait because it fits in my Chessie System era. Ill add pics ass I progress.

This the newer Bachmann with DCC On board? I just bought a WM diesel myself last week, good deal at $25 from my LHS. I can't wait to see more detailing, as I can apply it to mine as well. Not that do much now, but at least I'll have a baseline from someone with experience and knowledge like yourself . Lookin' good! I need to find my HO WM rolling stock now, so I'll have something appropriate to pull behind it.

Yes, this is the new run.25$ is a good deal. mine is analog because anywhere I have to run trains isnt large enough to run DCC. I'll update the the thread as I continue work. I like to work on my models about once a week just for the R&R. I used a photo to model mine from the Chessie System era. For some reason testors red is applying well to the handrails and not flaking off like most plastic handrails. You'll want to use the Details west leslie RS5T to replace the horn with. I have more detail parts on order and will let you know what they are when they arrive. its just simple parts like a snow plow and MU hoses...ect...Im using chalk to weather mine so that if i mess it up I can wipe it off. This project is probably one of the most easiest and cut and dry detail jobs you'll do since WM did'nt go hog wild on funky details. Post your progress on here as well too.

I have that same locomotive! Really impressed with those Bachmanns from a few years back: can motor, flywheels, good weight, nice detail, and great performance for $35 (in 2005) beat Athearn at their own game.

This was the first - and still one of the few - locos I weathered with an airbrush. Just a dusting to tone down the paint. I didn't touch the handrails, but after seeing yours I might have to dig it out and do just that.

Keep up the progress! Things might be hit/miss quiet here but I enjoy seeing people's work.
