anyone got idea ken
 i was thinking athearn,but that tower is not as shown on hooseekers site,the sides look different on chassis,and the tank is weird to me

That is an early Athearn SW7 drive with I think Cary sideframes and tank detail. Could be possibly made to fit the HH440 diesel locomotive.

thats a late 1960's Athearn OR early 1970's.....That frame was first introduced on the Athearn S-12!
And for the record, its 100% Athearn.....I have about 4 of them and all still run well even without the flywheels, this was the first gearing used by Athearn re-tooled for gearing and not "Hi-Fi" rubber band drives.
