I have recently been purchasing a lot of tyco engines off ebay and traction tires are rotted off or missing. If your tyco/mantua diesel engine is dragging the ties-check to see if traction tires are gone. I am currently using STEWART SUPER TRACTION TIRES FOR DIESELS cat. log #505 which contains 20 pcs. These tires make a big difference on your loco especially running speed as these do not slip like the tyco ones. If you have a steam engine you must use the ones made for steam as diesel tires will not work unless your loco is tender driven. If tender driven use the diesel tire traction set. I have been replacing all tires that are missing or in bad shape. You must first remove wheels from truck for easy installation and be careful not to loose screws.(use a magnetized screw driver) The best thing to remove old or partial tire is a small flat blade screwdriver( i am using a craftsman 1/8 small flat blade #41589. This one has a good small flat blade and leverage) by running around tire. I also reinstall with screwdriver by starting in one corner and holding while running around tire until seated.Edited by - Brianstyco on March 07 2006 8:10:09 PM

Hello, I need to know where I can get traction tires for my Mantua-Tyco diesels. These are the ones that look like very small O-rings. Thanks in advance.

Hi Carl-Brian here. Sorry for late reply-work schedule has been crazy. the traction tires you need are stewart products 505 for tyco mantua diesels. These fit perfectly and you should be able to pick them up at any hobby shop for around $5-6 bucks for twenty pieces. These are the round o ring style. you can also order them from 1st place hobbies online. they have great prices on ho scale items. there web site is 1stplacehobbies.com
