We're moving across the country this month, so I'd like to know if this set is worth anything so I can determine its fate. I was hoping the Tyco train fans would be able to help.

This was my dad's train set, but I don't think it dates back further than the 80s (I could be terribly wrong though, and that's why I'm here). I don't have the original box, but I have some instructions, which I forgot to photograph. If those can help, let me know and I'll post one.

See the link below to view the photos. Sorry they're not all great, I didn't have time to set up lighting.

When assembled, the track is about 3ft x 4ft. If you have any information, I would greatly appreciate it.

I do not know the name of that set but it is definitely Tyco. It is probably from the mid to late 80's. I have never seen a pipe hauling car like that but the pipe load is familiar. They usually came with drab green Western Maryland flat cars or yellow Union Pacific gondolas during the seventies. The Dots car is a new one on me also.
With the amount of track, number of cars, and accessories I would venture to say the set would have costed between $35.00 and $50.00 new. It would probably bring that on Ebay if you had the original boxes.
Possibly a Super Chief freight set or Thunder Chief but I don't know.

Thanks for the quick reply. I guess I'll just toss it on eBay as "Tyco Train Set" and see if anyone wants it. Since this set seems to be in really good condition (beyond the fact that I couldn't get it to run, but that's probably user error), I didn't want to give it to Goodwill and have somebody ruin it when there are people who really like them.
