I just purchased a metal shark nose tyco like the one pictured on photo in left corner top of page. The motor doesn't work-anybody have a spare or idea on how to get it operational again? would post a photo but site keeps saying file not accepted-try file with extension? This engine is aprrox 1953-55 as trucks are cast metal including side frames and no air horn slots in roof or headlight bulb.Edited by - Brianstyco on March 06 2006 11:54:48 PM

Larry has the part diagram posted on his site. http://www.hoseeker.net/otherhotrains.html Does yours try to run? You may just need to disassemble and clean it. I may have some parts, I will have to look.Ray

Got it to run-however when i set in on the rail it will just hum. When i take it off and lay it on its back and apply power to the motor-- it flies and wheels spin.

It may be that the magnet has lost it's strength. I have some old Athearn belt drive locos that acted the same. I got them to run by replacing the magnet. Of coarse a bad armature, weak brush springs or burnt brushes could be another problem.Ray

[/quote Ray- Brian-- took power truck apart and removed one gear driven axle as it has two. Replace that axle with a newer tyco set of loco wheels with out gear and it will now fly around the track. I guess motor is not strong to drive two gear driven axles but it will run for now on one gear driven axle.

[quote]Was perhaps the geared axle installed backwards where one would turn the opposite direction.

[/quote I did not think of that? I will try to turn it the other way and see if it works. i will email you and let you know . I would like to replace motor but i bet no one has one. If motor goes out i will look to Northwest shoreline powered truck. Any body has a motor that they can sell me for a reasonable price--i will buy it.
