This is my first attempt at any form of kitbash. It's not really based off anything (although I'm sure there must have been something similar somewhere in real life )...I'm just working off some sketches I made back in the summer when I was bored.

I'm using an F-7 shell (probably Athearn). I cut the cab off to add a "dome" and put a new front skirt on. I may do the same at the back. Here's where I'm at so far:

Any comments or suggestions are appreciated!

Something like that, ya I doubt I'll be able to fit an Athearn drive under there when I'm done. I was thinking of making the A-unit a dummy and wiring it to a powered B-unit. 16-wheel pick-up

You might consider that the panels on top be solid, rather than transparent(?), as your sketch seems to show. The AC required to keep that cabin space cool would be nonrealistic and truly imaginary otherwise. This type of glass doming requires framing, as per the rear car of the Milwaukee Road's Hiawatha. Strips of very thin styrene can be attached and conform to the curves you sketched. Also, give some more profile to that lower front skirt, by cutting in on each side and opening up a space for a front coupler, but that can be also covered for style purposes. Look up Syd Meyer (spelling), who is/was a futurist industrial designer of the mid and latter 20th cen. His transportation concepts may interest you.

I hadn't thought about filling in the top panels. That would give the engine a completely different look....and now that I picture it I kind of like it I have a few junk shells sitting around, so I may try both ways and see which looks better. Realism was very low on my list when I drew that sketch. I'd imagine this also wouldn't be plausible due to crew safety concerns
Don't worry, the skirt will be shaped
