Maybe he's just a loner who uses this as a means of socialization. If he really is a teenager, then he would be better served by getting involved with his contemporaries. On the other hand, as I teach some of them, perhaps he would be even more annoying if under the influence of other teenagers.
In the end, he is going to have to realize that, although we joke around, most of us gather at this watering hole of a forum out of common interest and substantively similar common experiences, given our ages and such. His connectivity to most of the forum members is that he is a model railroader, per se. Otherwise, there is not a heck of a lot of interaction possible. It like your nephew at a party- old enough not to play with the little ones, but at that age when showing off is part of the behavioral package.

Thanks, Smokie, for saying what needed to be said. The title of this thread is nothing but an in-your-face taunt, hardly the behavior of a contrite young guy who was a little too enthusiastic about his hobby. In fact, I'm not sure he's a kid at all, or that creating division amongst us wasn't his intent all along.
I've been tough on him because I've had experience with too many forum trolls in the past not to know one when I see one, and one thing they like to do is create multiple troll accounts...

Hey This is my ONLY Account for anything. Seiriously. And If you think that I need to socialize, this is how I do so, because I am the only one at my Entire school that actually likes trains. And my hobby hasn`t gone too far. I may have multiple layouts, but that doesn`t mean that I go to far in. I dont have a single new engine in my fleet. The only engine I ever bought new from a SLTS was a Atlas Trainman GP15-1(For Conrail, of course). I get my stuff from Ebay and Antique shops when I get very lucky. Edit-I just looked back, and what you said about kids who talk normally have some brains, well, I`m in all of the advanced classes at school. Now for you, NKP, I Really am a kid. Why would I leave for NO REASON! DID YOU THINK I WENT TO THE SOUTH POLE WITH NO INTERNET! Edit 2-Smokie, I just really, really, really wanted payback for the disrespect Romcat has given me. Hence the title. And The Way that they act is just sad. They act like I can`t enjoy model railroading. Its the worlds Greatest hobby and anyone should be able to enjoy it without old grouchos saying that it is THEIR hobby.

Edit #3
If you're feeling disrespected Ian you need to ask yourself why.
It doesn't matter how many advanced classes you are in, that is school. This is not.

CVT, continue to play the victim card if you like, but we all know who the instigator here is. Any reserves of goodwill you were accorded on this forum are just about used up.

i really don't think anyone here would have a problem with you if you just stopped posting on old dead threads to raise your post status. if you add something constructive, or if you ask a serious question on one that's fine, we all will do that. first & foremost, show a little more respect. i'm glade your in the hobby, it helps keep it alive.
maybe we should all just start over. hi, i'm Jerry

That sounds like something I said... It's not exactly what I meant, but that's ok.
Like I said in another post, it's just too hard to explain yourself completely in this format. I agree with some of the respect statements, but I also think there's some truth in what he says about this site, especially from a youth perspective. These kids these days (I can't believe I said that.) do this all day and night long. They text back and forth to everyone they know hours and hours of random, meaningless "hey" "what" "nothin u" "nothin" "wut r u doin" "nothin" "cool" "bored" "duh" etc, etc.... Whether we like it or not, that's how their generation is communicating. They try to do it on their homework, too. I'm not suggesting we totally cave in to that sort of thing, but maybe I'm just desensitized to it and therefore not really surprised.
I see it like learning to speak Spanish. Even if you don't want to speak Spanish, someone has to learn Spanish to teach Spanish people to speak English. There's going to be a learning curve dealing with different generations just like dealing with other cultures.
I'm not going to try to explain anymore because it's just fueling this fire, and at the end of the day things are starting to get back to normal. I'm really not trying to argue, I just wanted to try to clarify what I meant.
Like smokie said, I'll start over: Hi, I'm burlington77, B77 for short. I like trains.

No one has to honour this or respond but I'v tossed this to the Grand Poobah himself Todd.
In the meantime and speaking as the subject of this thread (my "15 minutes" I suppose-was that Warhol?) can we stand this down?
It's been kicked up the ladder and there are Trains desperately in need of cuddling, and drooling over and... well you get the idea.

Here, to show my solidarity in the O-scale movement, is today's purchase:

If you think about it, Lionel and Tyco have a lot in common. Both were "toys" and not just a "hobby."
