Does anyone know the current status of Mehano, maker of IHC locomotives? I know they went into receivership, but I haven't heard anything since.
Thanks! Thomas

Doesn't mean they are producing anything.

According to a friend who used to work at IHC, they're still in production and looking for him to be their US importer. He didn't know whether that would be for wide scale distribution like before, or just special runs for specialized customers like tourist railroads. He'd rather retire and didn't sound like he wanted to commit.

| Too bad I couldn't take it up...I like their product, very much like Rivarossi's old work. Unfortunately, the best way to make a small fortune in model trains is to start with a large one...

Hi all,
there's a online catalogue still available, showing the former production.
http://www.mehano.si/EN/catalogues/trains/Hobby%20Catalogue.pdf
And the website is still on after all.
http://www.mehano.si/EN/toys.php?Id=&idm=5&group=5
As far as I know the factory has been torn down and replaced by appartment buildings. There are some rumors about a production in China (especially for the belgian market) but no real evidence for that.
Cheers,
Martin

Someone must be importing them, because Trainworld has their locos for sale.

Are the engines any good for they're price? I've been told they're quite light and slippery!

That's interesting. Even the LRV has returned but only in Boston colors. By the looks of it the steam locos are back to the bright nickel silver wheels. At one time mehano was producing them with darkened wheels which I like better.
Thanks NickelPlate!

RJ, they aren't bad for the price. I have the Mogul, and it's pretty heavy considering the boiler diameter.
Thomas, I'm not sure if the new ones come with blackened RP25 wheels or not. Those may be photos of old stock. I don't think they had converted the entire line over to blackened wheels anyway.
