Hey Guys:
Have any of you built or acquired any Branchline Blueprint Freight Cars? They look like real nice kits and I wondered how they were.
Thanks, Gareth

I have about 3 or 4 or them. Superb kits, a good balance of detail and intricacy: more involved than a box shaker, but not as involved as a P2K or Intermountain kit. Wouldn't hesitate to pick up more when suitable cars are in the mix.
The large nuts supplied as weights are amusing, also.

Sounds like a stiff Horse to me Nelson!
Apparently Atlas bought the line. Not sure if thats good or bad?

I also have some of these kits but ironically I liked finding the parts sets as I could convert many of my tyco boxcars into more "modern" pieces of rolling stock...problem is it's now hard to find those kits it seems.
just me Ray... and just because I have Tyco doesn't mean I am not a model railroader

Wow, I'd no idea the line had been sold. That's kind of sad, it's always nice to have some well respected niche players. I wonder if Atlas will be keeping them as kits or assimilating them into their existing lines.
I think the best part about the "nut weights" is how the packaging had been specifically designed for them. No need to reinvent the wheel or tool a specific metal part, right? When you have a brilliant idea just run and design your entire product around it! Have to say I've kept a better eye for "scrap bits" like that since then.

I'm gonna grab a coulpe based on your recommendation Tony. There are worse kits or RTR ofr more money so this seems a good "sweet spot".
