I can't seem to get this engine running. I know the motor is good because it does turn over when some of the wheels are not making contact. When all wheels are on the rails, my power pack pilot turns off. I am sure it has to do with the wheels but can't figure out the wheel arrangement. Can anyone help?

One or more of the wheelsets are turned around in the trucks and causing a direct short. The wheels with the blue steel pickup disks should all be on the LH side on the front truck, and the RH side on the rear.

Thats usually a common overlook on trying to gettting engines running/ I also suggest bench testing it and adding power directly to the motor and make sure it does infact run.

Hi Ray !
Nelson's advice is valid. Rivarossi has blue metal disks added to the one inside of surface of each wheel set. This brings power from the wheel to the axel. If any-one wheel set is reversed. What is occurring will happen. You will short out your power supply. Do this enough and you will be looking for another power supply , on a new motor. Having and using a continuity checking device like a ohm meter, or test light can help alot in finding electrical problems in your trains.
