Oh Erich,

You know how to tickle my fancy!

Here are some of mine:

In all, I think I have some 14-15, with only one on display. Sick, yes I know. Can't wait to see the progress on yours. It's really looking great so far!

The project works out fine for now!

Because there is no original Centipede tender available from Bowser, I made my own electrical pickup kit for
a Revell tender! - Erich

Sean buddy;

Just shaking my head, but figured it out;

You're a Hoarder.

Never understood that myself. I get the collecting thing but...

With certain models, absolutely. Given the opportunity, it's really easy to be come one.

I figure, OK you have one, you display it (aesthetic) or even better operate it (useful) hey one to operate one to display!

Now the rest are in a Rubbermaid container. What function do they perform is my point. As I said I find this drive in humans to be very curious. I believe it's at the heart of many of our cultural problems. But then metaphysics has fascinated me longer and deeper than trains ever have. Thats my quirk I suppose.

Sorry Sean if that seems like I'm picking on you, I don't mean to. You're a pretty stand up guy notwithstanding the whole Hoarder thing!

Gareth,

I think I might be a hoarder also... I might have a problem, I got at least 2 of almost every train I own. Some I have 10 of like Athearn B units, I got around 40+ no use for them just got a really good deal on them.

Yeah getting a batch isn't a problem cause when that happens and the bloom is off the rose eventually you sell them and move on, thats life.

It's when you don't feel you can then there's a problem. At issue is also where's money coming from -> to. I mean Walt has enough of those little Piggyback trailers to open a caterpillar Best Western. Hell he could probably do a Caterpillar Vegas with lounge acts but he probably isn't spending a whole lot at one time.

I put some stuff up for consignment regularly at a LTS, and I had then sell a Bachmann PCC Street Car in Toronto Transit Commission paint, our local transit system. The day i kleft them two guys arguing over who'd get it pushed a $40 item up to about $90! What I saw was that where our passions for things lie we have very poor impulse control.

I'm guilty to. I'm looking at a potential layaway of a brass Diesel I want and it's gorgeous and beautifully made but is $1100! Gag! First I have to finish off a couple small purchases, then another with our English Ken and I HOPE by then it's gone or my desire has changed. If not I'll sell stuff I no longer use/need to finance it. Fortunately the hobby shop does layaway but that may make it worse!!!

Just observations. I'm just glad Sean has to keep selling much of what he acquires to finance his two Mustangs!

Hey Gareth! At least they are useful and not stuffed into a
quote:
Rubbermaid container!!

My wife calls me a Hoarder too. The difference I see.. I don't collect garbage. I see no problem with having ~15 Bowser Challengers, and 34 Varney Lil Joes! ...18 Mantua brass & die cast Moguls ~30 gallons of lost wax brass details...etc.. etc

Right now my life is too busy to have time or space to set up a layout or even work on my trains. I get frustrated when I finally take the time to fix one, I end up selling it. Still that's not a bad thing.

The next pictures are disturbing! So those with weak stomachs or constitutions, please turn your head and don't read! (Along withthose of you that are purists.)

This is what happens at my shop when your missing parts for a preticular locomotive! I take something close, and machine it to do the job of the factory parts! These frames, seen in the first 4 pictures are frames for 2, (yes I said 2) Mantua 4-6-2's. They have been milled to be coupled together as an Articulated.

Now to drop the bomb, I plan to make these 2 Bowser Challengers, NOT 4-6-6-4's, they are to become B&O 2-6-6-4, one a KB-1, and the other a KB-1a, and one of them will have a brass tender and the other will have a molded resin plastic tender from the brass master copy!
