My special LOTW is a Roter Doppeltriebwagen, whatever that is ( I don't know German or Austrian, here's a link to a similar unit http://www.forum.hag-info.ch/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=4224 ). Got this in a box lot at a show in WV last year, all Kleinbahn passenger stuff for $20. Haven't tried to get it going yet, the power unit is missing it's non-powered truck, so I'll have to see about finding Kleinbahn parts for it.
/tyco/forum/uploaded/amc_gremlin_gt/20111002010116_LOTW_Oct2_2011_SBB_CFF_Kleinbahn.jpg
The trailing car is complete. This lot was some of my first foreign ( to me ) passenger units of a complete nature. I got two more passenger sets, but the Zamac ? bottoms are warping, so not sure how I'll fix that. A few are straight, but more than half have warped enough to prevent use. Might have to custom-make base plates for them.

Commuter eh? Well the mighty GG1 was not above such drudgery but I much prefer The Honeymooner Special!
Pennsylvania 4856 waits impatiently for the newlyweds to board. Dual motored IHC GG1 in Tuscan red, bliss on 20 wheels. Silky smooth, whisper quiet and guaranteed to get you to New York City before your cruise ship sets sail. Book your tickets now.

I found this scarce Athearn UP GP7 Hi-F drive at the distant LHS yesterday. The Athearn Collectors guide says it's scarce and made in 1957and it runs. There is not a picture of it in the guide. I've always wanted a '57.

Hey AF;
you meant a Chevy Belair `57 though right??? Hi-F's have an odd allure do they not!? Very Rube Goldberg!
The unit below is a project not so much because of how it looks but, the mech underneath is usually pretty bad....
It's a late 50's early 60's "Alco Models" import. Likely KMT built in Japan. I'll have to look into that.
so the goal will be to fit an Atlas/Kato RS11 Chassis under there, and then repaint, likely in CPR Maroon/Gray though.
Despite the importer labelling it an RS-18 It's reall an RS-10. For my American breathern think of the RS-10 as a Canadian RS-3 mechanically, and the RS-18 an RS-11 Mechanically

CVT; you been listening to your parents Beatles albums? Look at your LOTW posting title and sing along with me,

Here's my Athearn kit diesel and the last of 'em ever made! Last one at LHS and I hopped on it and bought her! I love the plastic handrails and paint scheme. It's a GP40.

Hey Adam,
Me neither I have to call my dealer (used model train guy just in case you're curious) and get him a hit list. I want to drive Shaygetz crazy by finding one of the possibly made Hi-F Athearn 4-6-2 Pacifics.... not mention several Cary Shells.... among other things

Ken, Nice one I got one of those also but I have never seen another on with the plastic frame. Also mine has the horns mounting on the top not the side of the cab. I am not sure if mine is a throw together kit by someone on eBay and I got tricked. Everything seems correct but who would know.

Ken:
I have a P2K one of those, CP in the "as delivered" paint, the old Maroon & Gray. They are the most awkward looking diesels arent't they.
Have you ever seen one of the High Hood versions? N&S and also I think the Espee also had some HH's. They look dramtically better though your mileage may vary!

A GP 30 is positively sporty with the fast back roof.
The Wabash GPs are great. They were originally released as GP9s I believe but are GP7s and were eventually labeled that. The kit is too much. Why the unpainted parts, cost?
Romcat the RS 10 is a looker too, and at her age.
Busss, nice Tyco. I have not landed one of those, or "Me wants"
Too many other locos to comment on.

| Just a couple of comments on recent postings-- the 'LC&N' could stand for 'Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company'. Also, I agree with the posts about the good looks of the GP-30. I was fortunate to ride in one when I worked for BNSF, but the difference between this and other Geeps is that the front windshield is lower--so if you don't have a seat, and had to stand in the cab like I did, you can't see out the front without crouching down! I ended up sitting on my suitcase, but man was my back sore the next day!

Like a dream! The Mehano GG-1's might not be as detailed as a BLI nor accurate as a Rivarossi but they are nice runners, at least the two motor ones are. Can't speak for the older single motor variety.

Hi AF, very cool GP7! Is the Athearn Collectors Guide available on-line anywhere? Doesn't have to be a current version, I just wondered what it's like.

This is my LOTW:
It is a Aristo-Craft Baldwin 1880 4-2-2 "Bicycle" Locomotive. I saw it in my daily email searches from eBay as a Buy-It-Now for $25. It has an early Mantua diecast tender with it. I had to jump. Funny, I have been trying to find a 4-2-2 locomotive like this ever since I saw my first one. I have lucked into both a brass and die-cast version in less than two weeks. WOO-HOO!
