As some of you may know, earlier this year I had to redo the software that my own site (linked in my sig) runs on... and owing to quirks of plugins and software, it nuked all the captions in the catalog / collection photo gallery.

While I.T. is my day job, web development isn't and despite a few sincere attempts I've not found a solution I like to return captions to the gallery (software) I have, nor implement a different gallery plugin that might allow them outright in trade for a bunch of other headaches (overhead, formatting, management, etc).

Before I invest any more time in this, I have a question...

- was / is that gallery helpful and useful? Are the captions missed at all? Or am I slipping into delusions of self-grandeur?

I have an idea in mind to return them as footers on the images themselves... but that would be a lot of work. Not sure it's worth my time and effort. But any opinions / suggestions / comments are welcome.

Click on a folder to view the section, then click on a thumbnail to expand the pic full size.

Descriptive captions (Stock #'s, release dates, variants, rarity, etc) used to appear in the full-size view taken from EXIF data in the image, but that was deprecated in the new forced-compatibility version of the gallery plugin, and the developer has dropped support altogether besides.

Just seems like a lot is missing without having that info available, otherwise I may as well just be showing off, which was never the point.

Yes it was very useful for me and yes I do miss the captions, although they were short and sweet they were indeed informative.

Lightbox 2 is a pretty simple gallery, very similar to what you have now and it will include captions.

I say captions are very useful when you have that many items and some look the same, yet are actually different. Nicest collection I have seen yet too!

Hey Tony;

I thought they didn't loose anything by being "alone" when expanded. As long as the info is there before and after you do.

Course that's a whole step, and you know how popular "password" is as a password in computer support! You have real good instincts about this stuff, so put in the effort if it will be productive FOR YOU!

I have also found the pics and captions very helpful, both made a good reference if I thought I'd found a rare Tyco / Mantua.

I noticed that was missing, and wondered why, and yes I thought it was useful too. Thanks for your work.
