Northern Virginia survived with minimal damage. Southeast Virginia along the coast got POUNDED, though, possible tornado touchdown near Virginia Beach, wrecked houses and tore boats loose. gonna be a mess down on the coast for awhile, I think. I just had leaves and small branchlets break off trees, nothing serious. I was worried about my roof, has had a flatter part blown off twice in 10 years. I must have got it glued/nailed down this time. Nothing came off. Yay!

I was lost power at 3:45 AM here in NJ, and it was out for 12 hours. I'm lucky, because it sounded like they wouldn't be restoring it for up to a week, but there are plenty who are still in the dark and will be for days. Cable & internet came back at 7:00 PM, but we still get power fluctuations that crash my computer. No major damage by me, but there are trees down everywhere on surrounding streets, and some of them did a lot of damage to the houses they landed on. I didn't even bother getting in the car, with so many roads are blocked by trees, wires, or flooding. I saw a picture on the news of a nearby town with National Guard troops stranded atop their trucks and Humvees, which were submerged to the roofs. I've never heard the police bands that busy as they were last night, and kudos to them for all of their hard work evacuating people and doing swift water rescues.

| In No. NJ I lost power for about 16hrs. I broke out my SHTF equipment (propane camping stove) so I could boil water for tea and fix myself a hot dinner. It is sort of boring without power. I did get to read a few issue of Model Railroader. Unfortunately there were alot of trees down and some major flooding in the area. Thankfully, the flooding didn't affect me personally.

With me Irene was a B_ _ _H . With the last 10 years incident free, I was spoiled. Saturday night 4:15 AM, I woke up for my trip to the bathroom and for what ever reason went dont to basement to check it. Found puddling in a third of the rear half of the basement. Went to work battleing against the tide till lunch time when it stoped raining. "It was a heck of a day' FRANK

Doing the Stalwart stuff Frank! Good for you standing to post like that!
As for Welly's I was thinking our Pal Ken would chime in, it's a nickname for those old knee high rubber boots the pull on kind which in North America are usually black, with red soles.

| I am near Charlotte NC - WE got a nice breeze only from Irene - Had it came in through Charleston SC - would have been a different story. Hope everyone is Safe up north as images on tv show mass destruction from floods - bad thing is winter is just around corner in these regions. The coast of NC is where the worst damage is - about 450 miles east of me
