Greetings: This topic is probably more in the form of a question to old-hand collectors of TYCO Little Trains. I have a number of the original blue striped on silver Baldwin "dual service diesels" as Tyco referred to them. One I own came with a unboxed T1005 or T5 set: engine and three extruded aluminum passenger cars sporting the "TYCO STREAMLINER" banners. This set, claimed by the original owner to have been "as-purchased", came with a twin-powered Shark A unit. This is the only example I've seen of the silver TYCO marked diesels with twin power trucks. The original "Little Trains" brochures make no reference to this option, recommending owners purchase a powered B-unit which "should be coupled together to make a dual-power diesel locomotive." What I'm curous about is whether this dual-powered A was standard with the T5 and/or T1005 sets, perhaps due to anticipated tractive effort required to drag around those heavy lighted extruded aluminum cars. Since my dual engine is part of an unboxed set I'm hoping someone out there has a bona-fide boxed example as a benchmark for comparison. Let me know. MagnoliaAcademy
