I took this picture with my cell phone at the SIEMENS plant in Charlotte NC - They are currently doing a plant expansion and i am there every day delivering concrete which gives me opportunity to photograph their equipment that otherwise is hard to do publicly

This massive rail car is 165 feet long - with a maximum length of 175 feet

Hi CNVIATyco - NS is the line serving this plant - No - it doesn't go through the loops in Black MTN as it would not clear tunnels. I don't know exact routes this travels to Charlotte - but the generators and turbines come from all over the country to here for rebuild. The height is around 18 - 20 feet with load

Bachmann will be releasing one of these (or a very similar Schnabel Car) in HO scale soon. It won't be cheap, but cheaper than brass... with 16 sets of trucks!

I saw this car, or one just like it or similar, passing empty through Kannapolis, NC (30 miles north of Charlotte) just a few days ago! It was at the end of a regular manifest freight, trailed by a Siemens caboose of the same color, and another caboose, in red, with markings I couldn't make out. Quite an unusual sight!
