any of you that use kadee couplers please tell me what i'm doing wrong. i can get them on, centered & set to the correct height using a kadee height gauge, but when i run them some of the couplers work their way up on the other coupler to the point that if they go just a little more it would slip off the other coupler it's connected to. what causes that?

I have sometimes found excess vertical slop in the coupler box itself. One way to fix this (and to also help with height adjustment) is to use either a KD #208 or 209 washer; either above or below the coupler shank itself.

RBTurner is correct, Kadee sells a shim set to take up the slack in the coupler box. You can shim it a few thousandth's and tighten up the slop so it won't sag. Molding plastic, you can't really get it that precise, so the shim kit should be in your Kadee coupler box as well.
