Went to my LHS and sorted through there hoard of parts. Found some NOS Mantua Hook And Look couplers! There about four of 'em in this envelope. All brass. Sorta funny that Mantua stated that this is for HO and OO!

| I'm jealous that you have a LHS and that it has a hoard of parts!

| He's talking about the three-axle truck that is often missing from the triple dome tankers.

Some years ago, I was on the HO Seeker forum. A guy on there bought a bunch of old cars and he wanted to make up a train with the old Mantua couplers. I ended up sending him 30 some sets I think it was. I wonder if he ever got that train done?

I have a TON of these! I even have METAL "Horn Hooks", that I believe are MDC Roundhouse!
Anyone interested in the Mantua brass hook and loop couplers, let me know! I'd trade them for 2, 50 foot Gondola's, for a kitbashing project!

I've seen that old mantua kits offered ugly euro style couplers like a hook and loop. Catfordken gave me a log car for my train and it had euro couplers, it was mehano tho. I need to change them and I have a spare 3 axle truck if someone needs it. It came from my dads tycomantua collection so he must've had a 3 dome tank car at one time

Most are on. Still a bit short of the "boxes". Ordered out a shXt pot of two lengths of tiny brass woodscrews to mount them. Always looking for more bits. Just did an Athearn boxcar, a REAL Athearn kit, with no plastic, put the railroad's "standard" coupler at 11/32" off the railhead! Dave

I traded all my Bakers off to a guy for some Mantuas. I have a box of deVore and Roundhouse couplers set aside for a varney all-metal box and reefer string...just to be different. Going to build some coupler transition cars like my Uncle had. Square piece of 1/8" ply b(floor out of a wood kit) with a trucks screwed to it, and different couplers on each end. Dave
(BTW, I know this is Tyco....but I could put up some photos of my Varney engines, along with my Mantuas...)

| Those old Mantua hook and loop couplers may look strange but they will take a much tighter curve than any of the modern couplers.
