This photo is my third attempt at cutting the brass. That first attempt with the jewelers saw was mouth watering, but as I said, the paper pattern came loose before I cut it all the way and after regluing a pattern on (hoping for good position), I discovered that I had cut too much in places. So . . . attempt number two, I approached with the attitude of just follow the line and cut close and clean. Well, that was fine, but it didn't leave me enough room to drill holes. So this is attempt number three where I left a lot of brass around the holes. Ken, I seriously did think, "yeah, I'll make one of these for Ken and we can do some trading.", but I have a lot to learn about it yet. I do look forward, though, to getting this Mogul running and pulling a brass consist before too long. This time, and the second time, I applied the pattern with Elmer's Multi-purpose Spray Adhesive and then brushed a layer of polyurethane over that (overkill?). Regards, Barry

Barry that brass or plastic? Looks to be plastic. Those area that need removed, I'd use a file, a #1, Bastard, small one tho, less then quarter inch, and once close, finish with a #3. "Finish" file and you should be good to go. the ## will also be good to smooth the surfaces elsewhere too!
Looks good tho!

| That is brass John. I tried making one of plastic before I got started with the brass. The plastic (at least what I used) just wasn't strong enough. Yeah, I've got some good filing ahead of me and a bunch of trial and error fitting. It really doesn't take that long, just have to jump in that cold water.

Hey Barry, I have been following your threads on this needed part. While I was digging in my "stuff" a couple of days ago I ran across what I think may be the part you need. Is there a picture someplace of the part?
I think my wife has a digital camera and I will try and get a picture for you if I can figure this picture thing out.

Barry, I know you done it there a few weeks ago in brass, and was wondering...... if something happened when/while you were working that you didn't like to it.
Then to see this one it looked as if it were plastic.. so partially right!!! BUT your trying it old fassioned style, "Trial & Error" you know what that leads to right? You ought, as your doing it that way, but leads to a buncha errors! but that's how, we modelers are right?

| Just like going to the hardware; may as well make it three trips. Randy, I'll look forward to seeing that part. I'm wondering, since you brought it up, is that part something you're will to part with? Thanks, Barry

Hi Barry, it may take me ages to get the picture thing going. I am still trying to figure out where "she" put the charger cord for the camera.
If you will PM me with your address I will just mail the part to you.

RB, I'm looking forward to what you're sending. I am still continuing on this brass cutting project (because I'm twisted and sick). Got it to where it was fitting pretty good today and ultimately saw that the "legs" of it are not long enough. Practice makes perfect, hey?

Hey Ken, I decided, "yep, let's finish what we started. Let's bite the bullet, draw a better pattern and start over again." I've also found that being real gentle when sawing helps prevent damaging the pattern (sometimes finger pressure can make the pattern slide!), so this pattern has been affixed with spray adhesive and then varnished over. Now, to give myself a kick in the arse and get busy being a human band saw for an hour or so . . .
