The daily activities here at the Frankford complex keeps me very busy.
The Pennsylvania Railroad desire for technical information drives them in evaluating all current locomotives.
Their information that is acquired is there and open to all.
This recent partnership between the Pennsylvania Railroad here in the USA.
And the Great Western Railways of Great Britain shows the sharing of technologies can only result in a better way.
Of doing many positive things. May it lead to great progress in the developing of better ways to move us around.

Concerning today's daily operations. The New York Central ran a alternate to its 21st Century Limited today.
The train was made up of British built coaches and other types of cars to see what railfans would think of.
Was different of the change in service provided by this other equipment.
Because of the length of the train I only photographed the front section.
NYC placed one of their Streamlined Hudson locomotives at the head end of this experiment.

It is a great place for photos. Right now a CNJ freight train is leaving the yard.

It is all flat cars with loads. Some pleasure boats and some airplanes.
I hope it is informative.

Hello Chief Engineer Catfordken.
The riding public is happy with the level of quality of this train set.
It brings back the feel of the original Pullman cars.
As to the riding quality the die cast truck frames and metal axels add to the smooth ride.
No derailments !

This diesel engine is also a smooth runner. From your Catford Branch. Here now in the Frankford Complex.

The PGW is reworking its coal water and sanding area here at Bergen Point's Frankford Yards.
Relocation some trackage moving the sanding towers and adding a locomotive wash rack.
I will record in photographs the work being done.

It has been reported to me that the new sanding towers were installed.
Built and installed by the Louis Marx Railway supply company of New York City.
Other bidders for the project were the A.C. Gilbert railroad supply Company of New Haven Connecticut.
Being the builder of the water tower that is along side of the coaling tower.
The Penn Line railroad supply company of Bordentown Pennsylvania is mentioned.
They are master builders of many of the PGW steam locomotives.
Last the Bachmann Railroad Company of Philadelphia Pennsylvania.
The last being the supplier of parts for the twin coaling tower.

Here is the current facilities to be worked on.

The appearance of PGW 0-6-0 tanker number 78 as a yard switcher is not uncommon.
It is seen here making up a train of empty cars for a westward trip.

Today completed at the Frankford Roundhouse is the re boilering of Anna Railroad mastodon 4-8-0 number 364.
She sits here in all her glory with her new boiler stack bell and modern high pressure relief valves.
There are two because if one should fail the other will drop the over pressure.
And contain what could be an explosive situation.
Pride in accomplishment is shown here on the faces of all present.
This heavy duty freight locomotive is now returned to service on the Anna Railroad.

Today on a siding near the Frankford yards I recorded this scene.
The engineer told me that this bobber caboose just came out of the Roundhouse.
Her unsightly copula has been removed and the flat roof returned.
These small caboose copulas usually block the view to the engineer when backing up in yard work.
A return to past practices for the sake of safety.

The 0-4-0 number 80's stack lines up exactly with the stack of the 4-6-0 behind it.
It looks like one big long smoke stack.
