SCRV66,
That's a lot of action for a small space. Well done. I've often considered using a leaf section that can be put up and down to expand the length of my layout.

Ugh, rental layout has a fold out leaf section as well. We don't like it because it really disturbed the only track we could run our large engines on. But again not really our layout haha. I'll get some pics of it I don't think I ever updated the thread with the fold out section. Its mostly for extra parking (seeing a trend with all the layout expansions?).

That said I like your layout SCVR66! Its bigger than my personal layout and it has a lot going on. Looks like a big locomotive shop facility

Chris- that early 1950s Kelvinator refrigerator sitting behind the layout on one wall is a very era-appropriate nice touch. Reminds me of my grandma's kitchen when I was a kid!

* I lost this thread and am glad it came back. This is a fun layout. Easy to look at. It seems a little to full of equipment . I can be wrong as I have made other mistaken observations. The collection of Dreyfus Hudson's is curious. So many. The 2 with the challenger tenders are different. DID the NYC run that tender behind some of their Hudson locomotives ? I still like the old photo of the collapsed elevated line with the New Haven diesel hanging. It adds a little Adams family to the layout.

That early 1950s Kelvinator refrigerator on the wall behind the layout is very apropos!

Just like my grandma had when I was a little kid!

Now there's a collectors item!

No I'd say that's a more than fair observation lol. I've been pulling more stuff off of the layout as of late and bringing it home. And all the Hudson's you see are actually parked on the 2nd bookshelf unit my friend bought. Still we go to train shows and always bring back orphans, its a deadly habit

I'm not sure about the Hudson tenders. They are all Rivarossi/AHM, but 2-3 of them have the centipede tenders. One is actually a Bachmann tender someone painted. But the other ones came straight from Riv like that. If you wanna see something interesting. Lower shelf far left is one with a melted tender & loco body. Theory is they must have been left out in the sun once while in the package?

The Bridge line was actually repaired awhile ago, cleaned, and is functional again. If you really want you can switch power to that track and drive from one side to the other. Doesn't really do anything but I parked one of my switchers back there haha. I'll be sure to get a picture of the beer fridge since there is so much interest

I enjoy my layout but I wish i had one like your friends so my locos could stretch their legs my favorite part is the shop facility by far. I enjoy running trains on this layout but I spend more time repairing engines then I do running them.

you should get a logging loco (shay, heisler, climax etc) to run on you tight bridge curve. i'd love to see a shay or any type of logging steamer run a train over that bridge. They are made for flexibility

Cool layout-I love seeing a layout where it is obvious someone is having fun with their trains as opposed to someone obsessed with "this layout can ONLY have things in it that would have been in Gernblansten, Illinois at 3:00 PM on July 14th, 1956!" You're an inspiration to us all-let's run some trains!
